Chapter 7~ Dynamic Duo

4 YEARS LATER

Phil and Melinda are now 28
Daisy and Julie are now 4
Jemma and Fitz are in College
The others are around the same age as Phil and Melinda.

September 1st 2002
6:30 am

Melinda woke up to the warm sunlight coming from the large bedroom window and smiled, feeling Phil’s arms wrapped around her waist she also noticed two little bodies laying on top of her and her husband still asleep, snoring looking so fricken adorable.  She carefully turned on her side causing little Julie to fall off her landing face down on the bed but she remained sound asleep Melinda chuckled lightly her little girls took after their father both being heavy sleepers. Melinda moved Daisy off of Phil and then she got on top of Phil and started kissing his jawline gently "Phil wake up" No response she kept kissing him but he remained asleep suddenly a smirk came across her lips and she reached over to grab her pillow and started hitting him with it gently he stirred moving a bit.

Phil was awake at this point but he didn't give it away yet he continued to pretend to be asleep Melinda moved off him and just rolled her eyes going to the bathroom to brush her teeth and brush her hair. Just as she was finishing up brushing her teeth she heard loud squealing. She peeked her head out and saw her two daughters very awake and very energetically hitting Phil with pillows. He turned his head and saw her "Mel help me!" "No no help bába māmā '' both girls shouted in unison, getting more aggressive. Melinda started cracking up and let them have their fun for a little bit Phil gave Mel a look and she gave a slight nod in return she crept over to the bed and grabbed two pillows that had fallen to the floor discreetly passing one to Phil. He took it and Melinda climbed on the bed and they joined in on the pillow fight.

The twins were hiding under the comforter strategizing they were very mischievous already at only 4 years old but Phil and Melinda knew that from the day they were born. Daisy came out first and pounced at her parents making them fall back and was laying on top of them now “ Xiànzài niàngniàng qiāng '' (Sissy now) Julie came out with a pillow in hand and started hitting her parents. Phil and Melinda laughed and pretended to be hurt even though Julie didn’t have much strength yet. Eventually the little family stopped with the pillow fight Melinda glanced at the clock and realized it was almost 7:30 so they got up and decided to get ready for the day first they helped their daughters get dressed then Phil got ready for work and Melinda went to do her Tai Chi even if it was a little later than usual for her.
After she was finished Melinda got ready for work and went downstairs to see her two girls at the counter watching Phil make pancakes. She leaned against the wall watching them for a moment with a small smile on her lips and sighed. She still couldn’t believe she had all this: A perfect husband, perfect kids, a beautiful house, a good stable job she actually enjoys, good health, and great friends who have always been loyal.  “So how long are you just gonna stand there and watch?” Phil, speaking up startled her out of her thoughts she shook her head smiling walking over pressing a kiss to each of the girls heads then headed over to greet her husband with a sweet kiss. Melinda placed Phil's hands on her waist and wrapped her arms around his neck as they kissed but the moment was interrupted by giggling "mama and daddy are cute!" Their daughters said in unison looking up from their plates of pancakes. The parents chuckled and smiled "that's right" Melinda said "and don't you forget it" Phil added before going back to making breakfast for his family Melinda started cleaning up some of the mess Phil had made after putting on the kettle. The family eventually got to sit down and enjoy breakfast altogether, each one equally thankful for the other.

8:15 am

"Alright to the car let's go let's go" Melinda called out after finishing putting Julie's hair up in a slicked back high ponytail while Phil finished up Daisy's ponytail the little girls were off to kindergarten for the day while Phil and Melinda went to work at their still very popular bakery. On the way to school the whole family jammed to the soundtrack from Mulan “Wet’s get down to business to defeat the huns!” The four of them sang for the fourth time since Daisy and Julie had decided they wanted it on repeat Phil pulled into the parking lot of the school “right on time for once” Melinda commented with an affectionate smirk on her face turning her head to look back at her girls before the two parents got out of the car unbuckling the twins.
