He locked eyes with (Y/N), and put his hands on the bars below hers. Which, in hindsight, definitely was a mistake. She grabbed the collar of his shirt, and pulled him closer to the cage, pulling his face right to hers. "You don't know who you're messing with, Hiccup. You thought Drago was bad, Dagur... I can do what they did, tenfold, even more. You don't have a single idea what you're up against." She seethed. Despite her threats, the fear only grew. He smiled lightly. He almost had her figured out. With the help of Astrid, Snotlout and Fishlegs, he got himself away from the bars. She spit on the ground, and walked away, curling up in the corner. He walked back to the group. "You guys should go. I got this. I still need to talk to her." He said. Astrid looked at him with worry in her eyes. But Hiccup nodded, putting a hand on her shoulder, as if to say he promised. She smiled, and left, the others trailing behind. Hiccup missed it, but as soon as he turned around, (Y/N) pulled her curious gaze away from the group of young adults, focusing on a particularly colored dragon scale. She picked it up and inspected it. "That would be from a Crimson Goregutter." Hiccup said, sitting cross legged in front of the bars. She scoffed and threw it at him, the scale bouncing off his armor. "I don't recall asking, kid." She retaliated. Hiccup laughed lightly. "I'm pretty sure I'm older than you. That, and you're on my island now. I'm pretty sure you have to obey the chief." He said jokingly. She grimaced. "I didn't ask to be brought here. I don't have to do shit. And I don't care if you're older than me, you look too old for me to care." She said, venom in her attempt at an insult. Hiccup scoffed jokingly. "I'll have you know, I'm only 20 years old. If I'm correct, you're 19. Which makes you also too old to c-" "GODS DO YOU EVER SHUT UP!" She exclaimed, slamming her first against the wall. Hiccup jumped, as a crack could be heard travelling up the wall. He gulped. He wanted to keep talking, but he didn't know what to say. "You uh.. you don't happen to have my sword.. do you?" He asked awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. She chuckled. His face lit up, but soon dimmed once again, when he realized she was in fact, being sarcastic. "If I did have your sword, why in Thor's name would I give it back?" She asked, her fist remaining against the wall. Hiccup shrugged. A few moments of silence passed, before she slowly reached down her pant leg, revealing his sword. Without looking, she tossed it violently in his direction, the sword bouncing off his suit. His jaw dropped slightly, as he picked it up. "I- Uh, thanks.." He said, surprised. "What? I'm a killer, not an idiot with no manners." She said, once again, with sarcasm lacing her voice. The corner of Hiccup's lips lifted up, revealing a small smile. "Well, uh, goodbye for now I guess." He said, getting up and dusting off his armor. He began to walk away, when he heard her mumble under her breath. "Thank Thor..", and he snickered.
Hiccup met up with the young adults in the Great Hall, and as soon as he sat down, we was bombarded with questions. "How did it go?" "What did she say?" "How do you not have a single scratch on you?", each question he did his best to answer. "She wasn't much of a talker. She just complained about me talking." He said. Snotlout snorted. "I'm not surprised." He said. Ruffnut gave him a look, and Snotlout quickly became defensive. "What?? I'd also complain if Hiccup talked constantly to me. Oh wait, he does." He said. "Yea, because you're so not the talkative type at all." Astrid said, rolling her eyes. Hiccup laughed. "Anyways, I got my sword back. I asked if she had my sword, and a few minutes later she threw it at me." He said. "Huh, weird." Fishlegs said. The gang was lost in conversation, when Eret joined them. "Hello, what are you guys talking about?" He asked, squeezing between Astrid and Snotlout, to Snotlouts discontent. "(Y/N)," Hiccup began. Eret nodded, taking a bite out of a bread roll. "She's in a cell right now. We managed to get her back here to Berk, and-" he was saying, before Eret choked, coughing and spitting a bit on Hiccup. Hiccup wiped the spit off in disgust. (Y/N) is HERE?" He asked in disbelief once regaining his composure. "Err, yea? It wasn't that hard really, it was just-" "Hiccup. Why? Why would you bring her here? She came near Berk for a reason, and now she's ON Berk, are you out of your mind?" "Calm down, Eret! I have a plan, I'm gonna talk to her, and-" "Oh! Great! Your plan is to talk to her, because that's gonna go perfectly." "Listen Eret, I know what I'm doing!" The two bickered for a few more seconds, before Astrid finally interrupted. "Gods! I can't take it anymore, just shut up! Hiccup obviously knows what he's doing. He stayed by the cell to talk to her, clearly all they did was talk because Hiccup came out unscathed. Look at him! He is FINE!" Astrid said, gesturing to Hiccup, who sat there awkwardly. Eret sighed. "I guess you're right. I just hope you have a plan for if this all goes wrong, and she destroys Berk." He said. Hiccup smiled empathetically. "It won't go wrong Eret, don't worry. I know what I'm doing, all I ask is that you, all of you, trust me." He said. They all nodded. It was late by the time they'd finished dinner, so they headed home for the night. But Hiccup decided to stop by the cell and check on (Y/N). When he arrived, he knocked lightly on the door. He became a bit panicked when he got no response, and opened the door, jogging to make sure she was still there. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw her curled up, asleep, in the corner. He felt kind of bad that she had to sleep on the solid floor without even a blanket, but he couldn't risk opening the cell now that she was in there. He smiled as confidence shot through him, remembering today's interaction. He knew he would get through to you, and he was determined to, no matter what.
