Chapter 4

He knew something, it was too obvious that he didn't. I knew that fact right when I laid eyes on him. The way he twitched and fidgeted when I walked into that tiny Starbucks building. But for him to know something about Angel, my younger sibling, and possibly my mother? It felt surreal; almost like a dream. One that was way too good to be true. To me the big question wasn't where he found them; it was how he found them.

The single thought alone of my mother being alive gave me goosebumps along my arms. How did she live under radar for so long? More importantly; why? Didn't she want to see her kids? Harry? Does she even remember us, my mind intruppeted me.

"I've been following this case for many years," He mumbled, breaking the thin silence. "Ever since it happened, actually. It's what gave me a job." I stayed silent, not wanting muster up words to talk to him. What could I say? I just found out my baby brother or sister may be alive; possibly my mother too. I'm not just going to comment back on everything he says. "Angel is a girl, by the way." A little sister. I finally had a little sister. Tears came to my eyes but they stopped right before they could fall.

"I've gotta c-"

"You can't tell anyone," EJ spat out quickly. "Or I'll be forced to turn these photos in. No one can know about me." And no one can know about Liam and I.

"Well, you see. The thing is, Liam has to know." I looked over at him for a split second before looking back out the window to my left. His jaw clenched slightly which brought out his masculine cheek bones. EJ's hair was a dark brownish black and cut realitivly short on the sides but on top it was longer; a typical hipster hairstyle.

"Look, I understand Liam is your boy toy. But he cant know. I'm sorry. It's against protocol." Protocol? And who's protocol is this? Save it, Darce. He isn't worth it, my mind cooed.

I cleared my throat and turned my body towards him. He kept his eyes on the road but I could see how anxious he was getting. "I don't care what kind of 'protocol' crap you're following, but Liam has to know," I spat out. EJ tried opening his mouth but I cut him off quickly, "Ah, no! Liam went out and bought several new computers and stuff for tracking people the other day. We had a plan to search for my mother. Just me and him. But now that you've came along, we're going to use you. So, if you want your little secrets to remain secrets, I suggest you help us and let Liam know." By this point I had crossed my arms and was glaring at him.

EJ kept tapping the wheel nervously, taking the turns I had told him to until we were in Liam's driveway. "Fine. Liam can know. But I can't promise that those photos won't get publ-"

My hand quickly went around his neck. "No. You are going to promise me those photos won't get leaked. Or you can better your bottom dollar that the next time our paths cross, it won't be pretty. And I'll make sure the next time we cross paths, it'll be when you're heading to jail in handcuffs for harassment." I let go of his neck and slightly pushed him back right when Liam walked out of his huge house. I quickly got out of EJ's car and walked up the side walk, brushing past Liam. "Play nice." EJ followed quickly behind me, ignoring Liam's hard glance.

Once Liam shut the door, it seemed all hell broke loose. "Darce, you want to explain what the hell is going on here? Or maybe just who this is," he spat as he pointed towards a very freaked out EJ. I couldn't bare to look at EJ, or even at Liam, but I knew that I had to. "Huh?!"

"He's here to help, Liam." Liam let out a puff of air, and shook his head. "He is. He knows information about my mum!"

"And you're just going to believe him? Why? Isn't this the freak who did that report on her today?" I could see the veins starting to pop out in his forehead. "Darce, these news reporters will say anything to get inside your head. Let me guess, he came to you? He told you he knew information about your mum? He told you something that is very personal to you, that only she would know about?"
