Her breath left her

As fear filled her lungs
Her chest tightened up
As her fingernails tore through her flesh

Her eyes welled up
The tears burned her face
Like fire they burned her soul
As she scratched off her skin
Her arms full of scars

She drowned in her thoughts
The words the slurs the insults
The things she thought were true
Flooded her mind and lungs
A tsunami of pain and anguish

As a needle tore through her flesh
Leaving behind a fine red line
The pain left for mere seconds
And like a wave it came back
Again
Again
Again
And again
She tore through her flesh
The red lines piling up upon one another

Littering her thighs
Where no one would see
The fine red lines
Decorated her soul

The pain wouldn't go away
No matter what she did
She screamed for help
She pleaded mercilessly
She begged
But no one heard
No one ever heard...

So she scratched off her skin
She tore through her flesh
Leaving fine red lines
But it no longer worked
The pain wouldn't go away.

A blade glided through her skin
Blood trickled out
The pain went away
Like a weight fell off her
The waves calmed
She did no longer drown
In her thoughts
The words, insults and slurs
Whisked away

For minutes her soul was calm and tranquil
Before she drowned again
Her soul was pulled back down
And pain consumed her once more

The blade slashed through her skin

Blood oozed out
The crimson liquid trickled onto the floor

Her mind was a mess
Her chest collapsed
Her soul pleaded

Her cries and pain was ignored
So she tried to stop the pain herself

For her pain to go away

A pool of pain formed at her feet
