The next day, mas nauna ulit natapos ang klase ko so naturally, I will wait for him. Kahit medyo malayo ang highschool building sa engineering and architect department, kinaya ko. This is nothing.
Naupo ako sa isang bench sa harap ng building at naghintay doon. Buti na lang at nasa ilalim ng puno ang naupuan ko. In front of me is the vast soccerfield. It's already 4 in the afternoon pero may sakit pa rin na dala ang init ng araw kahit nasa silong ng puno.
Patuloy akong naghintay and I saw one of the friends he's with yesterday. Marami-rami na rin ang mga estudyante na lumabas sa building mula pa kanina at wala na rin ang araw. It's... 6PM already. He's supposed to be out 15 minutes earlier.
Maybe he's just late so I kept waiting.
"Venus, right?" a man said.
Liningon ko ito sa likod ko and I don't know me. My brows were immediately furrowed as I have never seen him.
"Who are you?" tumayo agad ako at nakahanda nang umalis.
I might not see him today.
"Ah don't be scared. Nakita kita kahapon talking to Chasty. I'm his classmate" he said.
I didn't talk. He's a stranger.
"Are you waiting for him?" he continued asking.
"And what if I am?" nagtaas ako ng isang kilay.
"You should have gone home kanina pa" he scratched his head while smiling a bit.
"Who are you to say that?" I said sharply.
"Ah kasi he saw you when he went to the clinic-"
"Clinic? What happened to him!? Is he okay? I need-" I cut him off.
Bakit siya pupunta sa clinic?
Is he ill?
I should go to him
"Let me explain first"
Huh? What's there to explain about? He's in the clinic and I should be with him!
"He's fine" he said when I looked at him confusingly.
And what he said made me more confuse.
I sighed, "what happened?"
"May pumunta kasi na first year kanina may sinabi kay Chasty na may naclinic daw. Sakto break time namin kaya umalis siya, at hindi na pumasok pa."
Where is he getting?
"Tapos? Why are you saying this?" I don't get anything.
"Nakita kasi kitang nakaupo dito nung napatakbo si Chasty papuntang clinic, and I saw you with him last time kaya naisip kong baka siya ang hinihintay mo"
Napatakbo sa clinic? Is it his older brother? It must be someone very important to him para hindi niya ako mapansin na nakaupo na rito.
But what happened to his brother then? Napaaway ba?
"Okay thank you. Uuwi na ako"
He's of the same year with Chasty but he seemed intimidated. I sighed.
"Wait!"
I have only taken three steps away kaya binalingan ko ulit ito.
"Huh?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I am David. The class president"
I was speechless.
"Uh... okay. I'm Venus. I'll be going then" at tumalikod na ako ulit.
Wala rin naman pala si Chasty dito, at kahit nakita niya ako ay baka naging busy siya. Busy sa pagaasikaso sa kuya niya na nasa clinic ngayon. It's understandable kaya uuwi na ako. There's always a next time anyway.
"As the class president, he asked me if you're still here"
Napatigil ako sa sinabi niya ngunit hindi pa rin ako lumingon. I think I looked like a crazy woman smiling like an idiot right now! It hurts my pride!
"And if you are... he asked me to tell you na" ang pakipot mo talaga Chasty. Why is he asking someone to rely a message for me.
"Tell me what?" I managed to ask calmly.
"You should go home because he went to the girl he likes"
Liningon ko si David. I smiled sweetly at him and said, "thank you very much"
Umalis na ako roon at pumunta sa parking lot.
"Sorry" that was the first thing I said when I saw Eli and my twin waiting for me.
Uranus knows what I'm doing and I promised him an hour but it's already been two hours. Buti hindi niya ako ginulo. Buti hindi niya ako pinuntahan. Buti hindi niya ako sinundo, because if he did, he will witness a rejection. Chasty's way of rejecting me.
So much for knowing his likes huh? It was my third step. Know what he likes.... not who he likes.
"It didn't go well. Let's go home" he hugged me and lead me inside of our car.
Maybe because we're twins, that he can tell that much. Or maybe because my being says it all, dahil kahit si Eli ay nanatiling tahimik hanggang sa makauwi.
And when I was about to sleep, I suddenly remembered... nagtatrabaho na nga pala ang kuya niya. But I was still right, he went running to clinic for someone very important to him na kahit nakita niya ako ay binalewala lang niya.
It's still understandable. He likes her. She's someone very important.
