The next morning my whole entire body was sore, but I was ready to start working out enough so that I could wake up and not be sore by the end of this summer. That was the goal. However, there was the downside that I couldn't see out of my left eye. It had swollen shut and probably got worse over night.
I ate breakfast with the girls who kept sneaking glances at me every now and then. Then I went for a run with Brianna. Well, it started with Brianna but she had to challenge herself so she went on ahead.
I knew this was difficult for me but it was also difficult for the rest of them too. They didn't quite understand how humans worked and I don't understand how werewolves work.
When I got too tired to run and my legs couldn't really carry me anymore I stopped and walked back over to the girls. Brianna was still off running and Kayla had joined her to keep her company.
I then smiled at Lauren and her and I left to go take a walk and talk again just like yesterday. We walked for a bit in silence until she came across a tree that had fallen and sat down onto it. I followed her lead and sat down beside her. Finally, I get to take a little break and just relax for a little while.
"What am I going to learn today?" I asked then took a deep breath to try and relax. However, it was getting really hard to relax for some reason. I felt as if my heart beat had picked up and I was starting to heat up like crazy.
"Are you okay?" She questioned and put her hand on my forehead. "You're getting really warm and you're heart sounds like you're about to get a heart attack."
I took another deep breath and stood up. "Something's not right," I commented. "I feel as if I'm running through a dessert."
She stood up and caught me as I started to sway, "you need to relax right now."
I rubbed my eyes because they both started to burn like crazy. But then they started to water and I looked up at Lauren, "they burn so much."
She looked so worried. "Hang on and let me get you back to camp."
There came this really weird feeling of burning all over my body and I bit down on onto my lip so I wouldn't scream out in pain. Lauren grabbed onto my hips and lifted me off the ground a little but there was a sudden whoosh and we were back at the camp.
She let me down and I couldn't stand up by myself with all of this burning, so I collapsed onto the ground. She didn't even have time to grab me again. I rolled over onto my back and tried to take another deep breath but it felt as if though my throat was closing up.
"Nicole!" I heard someone yell in a panic. I'm not too sure who it was exactly because I started to hear a ringing in my ears and they sounded really muffled and far away.
I closed my eyes shut tightly and tried to block everything out and just concentrate on my breathing. It felt like I was on fire for hours and slowly burning but never dying. And all I wished was that I could at least pass out until it stopped, but that never happened.
So I laid there for hours until it started to subside.
When there was only a slight tingling left I finally was able to take a deep breath and open my eyes.
I was no longer laying on the ground, I was inside my tent and it was dark outside. Okay, I know a lot of time passed, but it wasn't that much time.
I slowly got out of the tent and found all of the girls sitting around the campfire looking very worried.
"What happened?" I asked quietly and their eyes all shot to look at me. All of them looked very relieved and I was questioning why they didn't hear me get out of the tent. I mean, hello, werewolf hearing is a thing... right?
"Oh thank god you're okay!" Serria was the first to move and came running towards me. It surprised the hell out of me when she pulled me into a tight hug.
I was more worried for Serria right now than I was about myself. What on earth happened for her to stop hating me?
"What are you doing?" I questioned and she pulled away.
She looked really sad and like she might actually cry. "I'm sorry Niki," She sighed then sniffled. I think she might actually start crying. "I was a bitch and I understand if you never want to talk to me again."
I stayed silent because I really didn't know what to say to her at this time. She was just adding to my world of problems right now and I'd rather deal with her later.
"Okay," I said slowly, "so what happened? I don't understand... I don't remember being brought to the tent and I don't remember enough time passing for it to get this dark outside."
Everyone looked at me with a mixture of shock and what seemed like remorse.
"Nicole," Serria said quietly, "you died."
