"Are you ready yet?" Cody yelled from the hallway. I was staring at my suitcase that I was trying to pack. I had acquired too many clothes over to course of two months. Kayla and Lauren love to shop. They shop too much.
"Almost," I whispered to myself then let out a frustrated huff of air.
There was a few footsteps from behind me and then the door opened, "your parents are going to kill me if your late."
I laughed lightly, "no one has seen me in two months, I need to make the best impression."
Cody came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my stomach then rested his chin on the top of my head. "You will look badass no matter what you wear. You've got a whole new wardrobe to choose from and you can always buy more later on. Pick a few of your favourites and then on the weekend I'll take you shopping as a celebration."
I turned around and laughed a little, "you are not spending any more money on me."
He shook his head, "I'll be spending money on you for the rest of your life."
I poked his chest, "exactly why I won't let you spend any more money on me right now."
We both smiled at each other and he caved, "fine, just hurry up. I am afraid of your father even though I know I can beat him in a fight. I want to win him over the right way."
I rolled my eyes, "he likes you."
"You'd be surprised," Cody kissed my forehead then took a step back. I felt kind of not all there when he did that, but I did it to him too. We were great at trying to see who would cave first. It became a game that we played all summer but never actually spoke about it. It was unspoken and never discussed, but it happen all the time.
He left his room and I was left with trying to pack once again. I somehow always have problems packing. Why can't I just be one of those simpler people?
After another minute of complaining to myself, I started to just shove random things into the bag. I can panic and sort it out after I get back to my parents house. Or before I get to school again.
That's starting tomorrow and it's sure to to be fun. I haven't seen Nathan, Brianna, Serria, or anyone else since the camping trip. And I'm an entirely different person now than I was then.
After zipping the suitcase shut and making sure it was tightly closed, I dragged it out of the room and down to the front foyer of the house. Cody was chatting with Jeremy. He was telling Jeremy things that he needed to do in the upcoming weeks because he'd be staying up with me for a couple of weeks.
Cody said it was for business purposes. Something about making an official deal with Nathan. However, I know for a fact that he just wants to stay with me for my last year of high school.
Everyone knows that it's the real reason. So I have no clue why he still tries to claim its to make a deal with Nathan.
"Don't forget about Scott either," Cody tried to seem scary sometimes, but it just didn't work. Well, maybe on Jeremy it did, but it never did on me.
"I won't forget about him," Jeremy laughed lightly. "Now please go so we can have some fun around here,"
Cody frowned, "I am fun."
"Your only fun when Niki is around," Jeremy pointed to me and Cody looked at me then smiled. I smiled back. After a minute Jeremy groaned, "okay you guys are gross. Now get going."
I turned my smile on Jeremy, "we do it for pay back with you and Kayla."
Jeremy rolled his eyes, "no you like it because Kayla stops talking for a while."
"Ha," Cody gave a fake laugh, "she makes other noises other than talking too."
"Go!" Jeremy started hitting Cody. "Go, go, go!"
Cody had to walk out the door to avoid Jeremy's hits and I laughed while I followed them. Jeremy made sure he got al the way out the door before he said goodbye to both of us and retreated back into the house.
"Was that a locking sound?" Cody asked after Jeremy had closed the door behind us.
I laughed and pushed him towards his car. "c'mon I need to see my baby."
"What?" He looked at me slightly horrified, "your what?"
"My car!" I skipped away from him before he could grab me. "I want to drive again!"
I heard Cody let out a huff of air in frustration. We both got into the car and he turned to smile at me, "I'll still be driving you around."
I smiled back at him, "in your dreams."
"I do dream about you. A lot," he smirked.
I crossed my legs and patted my jeans then smiled back at him, "I dream about driving my car again."
He laughed and drove off. I was so excited the whole drive that I couldn't fall asleep. Excited and slightly scared. Who knows what will happen at school. I'm expecting a fight. Not sure with who yet, but it's probably going to happen.
A part of me wants it to happen too.
