After lunch was more of the same stuff.

Nathan and the pack looking at me weirdly and in general no one really talking to me. Until Nathan confronted me at my locker again at the end of the day. Honestly, at this point  I should stop using my locker because it seems to be the only place Nathan can really pin down where to find me.

I rolled my eyes before he even spoke, which made him sigh deeply.

"Nicole it's your job and you have to appoint someone else if you don't want it. But in order to do that, you have to be in the pack first."

I clenched my teeth and shuffled through my locker. "And me not being a werewolf before had different rules? I know that you already have another Beta."

Nathan let out a groan of annoyance and I slammed my locker shut hoping it would end this terrible conversation.

"Right now you're not in a pack," Nathan continued and I left. He followed me. "you're a rouge on my lands and that means you're a threat."

"I'm mated to the alpha," I said a little too loudly and a few werewolf ears in the area turned to look at me. "I'm not joining your pack just because I'm underage and in my parent's care until I graduate school which happens to be on your land."

I then stopped and turned to face him, he almost ran into me. "Why don't you just wait until my brother is old enough and get him to pass over Beta rights? I'm already a Luna, I can't join your pack."

"You got sworn in as Luna?"

I rolled my eyes again, boy if I talk to this dude any longer I'll have some sore eyeballs. "What do you think I was doing all summer? Throwing darts at a picture of you? No! I was learning how to take care of a pack as a Luna, not a Beta."

This seemed to shut him up finally.

"No matter how I became a werewolf or if I would have known about werewolves for longer in my life, my destiny was always with Cody. I was always going to be a Luna, so the Beta stuff doesn't matter."

Nathan then slowly nodded his head, "I get it."

"And I am not a Rogue," I told him through clenched teeth and then stormed off. He stayed put this time and didn't say anything else or follow me, thank god.

I drove myself home and Cody was waiting for me by the front door. He pulled me into a tight hug and then noticed I was frowning. "did he talk to you again?"

I nodded my head, "he called me a rogue."

There came a knock at the door just then and we both froze. From the nervous shuffling I heard I assumed it was Nathan and I was ready to tell him off as soon as I opened the door, but instead, it was a very sad looking Serria.

I slammed my mouth shut and stared at her.

"Hi Nicole," she said quietly, then she glanced over my head, "hi Cody."

"Hi Serria," Cody said back but I was still so speechless.

Serria then cleared her throat, "I need your guys' help."

I still didn't say anything.

"I found my mate."

My eyebrows shot up in surprise and I turned to look at Cody, he was also looking at Serria with a surprised face. I turned back to look at Serria, "why me?"

She shrugged, "you're the only person I know who has had to work for what they want and my mate isn't exactly someone who's going to settle for me."

"But they're your mate!" Cody said exasperatedly. "Even Nicole and I clicked and she didn't even know about werewolves."

Serria glanced between us, "he won't even look at me and he's been living in the pack house for three weeks."

Cody and I looked at each other, "so you want us to help?"

Serria looked at the ground, "I've talked to people in the pack and they don't believe me. You're the only person who hasn't met him yet and Nathan doesn't want you to because he's your replacement. But I know I'm the worst friend you've ever had and I understand if you say no. I just needed someone to believe me."

I was amazed at this. She seemed different at school today, I had noticed that bit. But I didn't realize it was because her mate hadn't even looked at her. Well, how could I? I had avoided her today too.

"Bring me to him," I said simply and I felt Cody give my hand a squeeze. This was about to get interesting.
