NARRATOR POV

"God damnit why..."

Shuichi's uncle took a deep breath as he ran a hand through his hair. His eyes only seemed to droop even more as his eyes were fixated on the television screen in front of him. Images swirled in his vision, colors flashing and merging together to form the image of Shuichi.

His mouth gaped as he heard who he thought was his sane, completely fine and cured from the brainwashing nephew talk about despair, about violence and about the joy the brutal disgusting executions brought him. The poor man's head was spinning, his thoughts were tangled together in a mess.

How could this happen?

What happened?

Why?

Why is his nephew... no-

Why is his son like this?

He remembered the sweet boy's smile as they parted ways just a few days ago after him and his wife had visited him for a brief moment. He had told them about his previous weeks and about how he was doing much better.

His smiles, his laugh, they were all so genuine.

So why is he like this?

What went wrong?

The man was desperately trying to find out a reason.

'Did he lie... was that facade of him I'd been seeing for a month all just a lie?'

Shuichi's uncle shook his head, pushing away the thought, and stood up. He grabbed his coat, that had been laying on the couch's arm, and headed to the office, where he found his wife sitting in a rocking chair, probably reading one of her many mystery books.

When she saw him enter the room, she lifted her head to look at him, a curious look on her face.

"What's going on?"

"Did you see today's live podcast from [TV show name]?"

"No... what is it about?"

He took a deep breath and blurted out everything he'd seen. The look on his wife's face slowly became more and more horrified as he explained more in detail, something he was used to do, as detective business required to analyse everything detail by detail.

"No way... this can't be..."

Tears formed at the corners of her eyes. "Not S-Shuichi... why..."

The man frowned, head lowering for a split second before he lifted it back up with a sudden burst of motivation.

"I'm going to go get answers."

"Answers?"

"These kids. The participants of that recent killing game."

The man frowned again, this time putting a hand to his chin.

"There's definitely something Shuichi hid from us. I always felt like he was holding back from telling us something. These kids, from what I've seen in that god damn show, they looked pretty damn close to Shuichi. Especially Kokichi. There was also that blonde girl he seemed to like and that astronaut guy."

"You're right, there has to be more to this, I can't believe Shuichi.... just became like this. These kids; oh! and Kokichi too! They must know something."

The man nodded.

"Definitely. I'll be going to that mansion right now. Wanna come?"

His wife didn't hesitate to nod, putting her book away and standing up with newfound energy and motivation.
