'Sirius.' Remus whispered, 'Sirius, wake up!'
When Sirius didn't wake up, and he knew that the other boys definitely wouldn't, Remus decided to get out of bed and wake Sirius with more than just words.
'What the-' Sirius aggressively punched in the air, Remus had thrown a pillow right on his head. 'Remus, what the heck do you want?' The grumpy Sirius said. He looked at his watch, which said it was only one in the morning.
'I heard people outside.' Said Remus, while twitching his hands.
'Rem, you're a werewolf for Merlins sake! You're not gonna tell me you're scared, are you?'
'No, I'm not scared!' Remus defended himself, 'It's just that they were talking about, you know...'
'I'm sorry, Rem, it's one in the morning, you really got to be more specific on this one.'
'Werewolves.' He said, nervously.
'Shit. Do you think they know?' Sirius'd never sat up this fast. Remus just shrugged. He thought he even heard his name come up in their conversation, but that might have just been his imagination trying to fool him.
Remus was cracking his knuckles in distress, to which Sirius laid his hands on Remus'.
'Stop that.' He said. 'I hate that sound.'
'Sorry.'
'Want to check it out?' Sirius asked, to which Remus nodded. He was so afraid of people finding out about his secret, since he knew that everyone would be afraid of him, which was the last thing he wanted. That's why he didn't want to tell his friends about it, until they found out themselves.
They opened their dorm room and the voices downstairs became louder and louder, like someone had put up the volume of one of those muggle radios.
The two boys quietly looked around the corner, to see who were talking, trying their best to be unobtrusive to them. When they saw a group of Gryffindor second years hold the book Peter brought, they quickly looked at each other, their eyes filled with panic.
'Fuck.' Remus heard Sirius mutter under his breath. He always felt weak around him when he sweared. Like he had to live up to his power. Though in fact, Remus knew he could beat the shit out of Sirius with ease.
'So, boys, what are we doing here?' The voice of a woman was coming in louder into the Gryffindor common room.
'Is that McGonnagal?' Sirius asked, but before he could get an answer from Remus, the boy had already taken off.
'Hello, professor, I will take it from here.' He said. Professor McGonagall, an older, fragile looking lady, looked a bit suspicious at first. But since it was already late, she didn't seek much behind it and let Remus take over. He, a prefect, she could trust with some of the younger students.
Sirius looked worried at him, hinting him to get away, but Remus just gave him a "don't worry, I know what I'm doing" kind of look. Sirius thought he looked badass, how he just went there, without hesitating.
'Sorry boys, party is over.' He told the group of young boys, sitting by the fire. 'If you just hand me that, I will get it back to the library.' He lied while pointing at the book. Remus winked at Sirius, to which a smirk appeared on his face.
When all of the boys left the common room, Remus let himself fall into the couch with a sight. Sirius cared to join him, as they both completely lost their sleep.
'Good work, Lupin.' Sirius grinned.
'Yeah, being a prefect has its benefits sometimes.' He laughed as he past the book onto Sirius, who took it in with open arms. Sirius just chuckled.
'It's quite peaceful here at night, isn't it?' Remus asked the boy next to him, his voice started to slow down, get a little deeper.
'Yeah, it is.' He simply answered, smiling back at Remus.
The sound of the fireplace cracking and the wind flustering outside, made the atmosphere in the common room really nice. The warm orange light of the fire shone all through the room, reflecting the color on the boys' faces. Remus glanced at Sirius, who laid his head back on the couch, enjoying the peace and quiet of the empty room. His new hair length really did good on him. His dark, mesmerising eyes looked even prettier in this lighting, if that was possible...
'What are you looking at?' He asked playfully. Remus quickly looked away in shock. He didn't expect Sirius to notice him staring at him. He didn't even expect himself to stare at him, at least, not as long as he'd done.
'Er- nothing, just the painting at the wall over there.' He lied, while pointing at the wall behind Sirius. There was absolutely nothing interesting behind him, literally, why didn't he come up with anything better? Anything would've been better than that.
'Oh, alright.' A few moments of silence passed before Sirius said something again, 'We should go out at night more often, I really like how peaceful and quiet it is in here now.'
Remus agreed, 'But, you must have had a lot of silence last summer, aren't you bored of it?'
'That's different. This silence is nice.. comforting...' With that said, the boy turned around on his side and closed his eyes. He got cramped on the tiny couch, only hoping he wouldn't fall off. After a few seconds, Remus did the same thing.
