Remus took his trunk down platform 9 ¾. He couldn't wait to enter the Hogwarts Express and meet all his friends again. His summer had been so quiet and dull without them around.
Though, he spent a lot of quality time catching up with his parents, his mind kept wondering off to this next year.Remus noticed his friends in the distance, apparently James and Sirius decided to meet up earlier or something. Only seeing them made a huge smile already appear on his scarred face. Since he recently received a new scar, right above his upper lip, smiling was harder than usual.
Sirius' hair got longer over the summer, which Remus quite liked, it suited him. But he wasn't the only one who thought so, since all the girls around them were basically hanging on his lips. James on the other hand looked exactly as Remus had remembered him, short, curly hair; big, round glasses; and that same confident walk of his. The only difference from last year was his now more muscled body, he must've worked out a lot these past few weeks.
The three of them met at the entrance of the train. Ecstatic to see each other after not being able to talk, nor write, each other for two entire months.
'Remus!' Sirius yelled as he flew his arms around the boy, James soon followed him and did the same. Remus didn't hesitate to hug them back.
'Hey, guys!' He responded, 'How are you?'
'I'm doing great, look,' James said, rapidly, in a, what was supposed to be charming, voice, as he showed the boy his biceps, which indeed did get a lot more muscled over summer.
'He showed me those three times on the way here.' Sirius chuckled, shaking his head while passing a look at Remus.
'Impressive, James!' Remus laughed with him.
They stepped into the train, looking for an empty compartment. They sat down and didn't stop talking, even when they finally found one. The three boys had so much to discuss, after not being able to talk for so long. Especially James took the lead, the words kept spitting out of his mouth.
'Wait, where's Pettigrew?' Sirius asked. Just when those words left his mouth, a short girl with bright, red hair entered the room, followed by Peter. He had looked the exact same as last year, just perhaps a little taller. However, James couldn't keep his eyes off of Lily, who looked completely different from last year. Her hair untied, hanging aside her body and a little make up that James adored. God, he'd missed her.
So did Remus, he always liked Lily, he could always talk to her about everything. He also considered her to be his "muse". Sometimes he really wished he could talk to her about this one peculiar secret of his, but still didn't want her finding out, since it could affect their friendship, badly. It's just that he felt awful lying to her every damn month. He hated it.
'I've missed you guys so much! We've got so much to catch up!' Her high-pitched, womanish voice sounded. She sat down after embracing everyone in the room in a tight hug.
'What have you been up to this summer?' She asked the boys, Remus noticed how Sirius got quieter and his smile slowly disappeared. He tried to find eye contact with him, but Sirius did not look up from his feet.
'Amazing,-' James started talking about how he spend his weeks training and exercising, hoping to impress Lily with that.
'Wow, nice, James.' Lily pretended, as he showed her his muscles, that boy was really trying to prove something.
Remus didn't even comprehend what Peter said about his summer, since he was only focussed on the disappointed looking Sirius, who obviously did not have a great summer. Remus visioned him sitting alone in his cold, dark room, waiting for someone to rescue him from the hell he was trapped in. The hell he was forced to call home. But he couldn't help him. None of his friends could.
