I was really in the mood to write so I'm just going to finish the story, the ending might seem a little rough, but that's because I'm on writer's block. And the image above can either be Opal or Kai. I just didn't have an idea of what to do about it.
Kai slowly came back to the physical to world. She had always found the journey so peaceful, she could look at the worlds and see the connection between them. The journey came to an abrupt stop, her mind settling back into her physical body. The pain of shoulder made her keel in word. The break of the pain made the pain feal even more intense.
"Kyatha are you okay?" Asked a voice way to familiar, her mother. Kai felt the hand touch her left shoulder, she flinched. Such a normal human touch felt so weird. It took a few seconds for her senses to fully merge with her brain once more. Her mother shouldn't love her, Kai wants nothing to with it. She jerked her shoulder away and looked up. Her mother looked so much older but still looked like herself. Her hair was pulled back into a pony tail, her airbending tattoos a nice blue. Her father looked older, some his hair had turned white and gray and bags where permanently fixed under his eyes. He was looking at her happily. Kai's unkle, Mako was standing at the door way looking at the family reunion hopefully.
" Kyatha, calm down it's me, your mother." Kai's Mother said her hand reaching out to touch her shoulder. Kai scrambled back, her head hitting the wall of the cell, she was stuck.
"Stay away from me!" Kai said, her voice sharp. Her mother's face crumbled, and her father walked over to set a hand on her mother's shoulder. Zuko's words came to mind, A good place to start is to talk to them, tell them how you feel. Kai groaned inwardly, the last thing she wanted to do right now was talk to her parents. But then will you be able to get another chance like this? Said a nagging voice, in her head. Kai wished her moral conscience would just shut up, but it seemed to be determined to make her make amends with her parents. Kai looked her mother in the eyes and took a deep breath, "I'm sorry, the anti-bending shot reall-ly hurts." Kai's voice broke but at least she said sorry. Her mother's face softened, and her father crouched down to look at Kai at eye level.
"No, we should be the one apologizing. We surprised you and you where scared, perhaps we should start over?" Kai's father asked. Kai looked a her father surprised, she had not expected such a kind response to come out of his mouth. She looked at her unkle for support, Mako nodded.
"Sure," Kai said, her mother smiled. Opal, Bolin and Mako stood up and walked outside the cell, the door closing with a click. Kai scooted back to the middle of the cot and started to mediate. Kai heard the cell open, but she kept her eyes closed. They would make the first move, Kai sit there fidgeting, trying to imagine what they will say.
Then Kai's mom speaks, "Kyatha we've been searching for you ever since you left, your departure made us question our ability to be your parents, we missed you and we are so happy to finally have found you."
Kai keep her eyes close thinking that she is lying, hoping that she is lying, Kai know now that they are expecting her to reply. So she takes a deep breath, wishing that some one else could just do this for her! But this one is up to her. "I really sorry for leaving the hospital, I just felt so scared, and ashamed of what you might think of me." Kai watched as her mother tentatively walked over and sat down next to her.
"No! Kyatha we should be the one ashamed, we should of taken you to the hospital and let Kai and Jinora stay and fight." Kai's mother, wrapping her arms around her. Thats when Kai lost it, all these emotions where built up inside her and no where to go. She just wanted to get out of the police station. She just wanted to be with her family and not be hiding from them. Her father walked over and sat next to the other side of her. Her unkle left the room, knowing that this family reunion need some privacy.
"I want to go home." Kai said and started to cry. Opal and Bolin rapped there daughter into a big hug. Sharing all the love.
"We will sweetie, we will." Opal said tussling Kai's short hair.
