Also, the image is not mine, but it works pretty well. Kai just has a little bit lighter skin, airbending tattoos, and of course her scar. Sorry for the late update! But here it is, let me know what you think! (Seriously please do)
RING! RING! RING!!!
Bolin's heart thudded, could they have possibly have found her? No, it was probably just a salesman advertising buffalo skin purses or something. But when he checked the address it came from Republic City Police Station. Bolin braced himself for bad news, it was probably just another dead end.
"H-hello," Bolin stuttered, Opal was currently walking with Suyin, should he go get her? No, he should find out what was going and then tell Opal.
"Bolin!" Poured Makos voice through the speaker. "Bolin are you all right?"
"Y-yeah I'm here," Bolin said, the world felt like it was falling apart, could they have possibly found her? "S-should I go get O-opal?"
"No, you can tell her after," Mako said, his voice staticky. "Listen I know you just arrived at Zaofu to see Opals family but we think we found Kyatha." Everything became blurry, Bolin felt like he was drowning. After all these years, they had finally found her, his daughter.
"Y-your joking."
"Bolin, I'm not kidding. Ruby and I have seen her with our own eyes." Bolin felt like cheering and crying at the same time, they had found her!
"R-really," Bolin finally let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "I need to go tell Opal."
"You go to that," Mako said his joy that Bolin was joyful traveled through the wires.
Opal joy alerted the whole clan, there was a big feist at the Beifongs house, toasts were toasted and it was good times. Everyone was glad to see Opal and Bolin so happy again. The next day they left on a train to Republic City. The station was a buzz of onlookers curious to see the couple, reporters flocked around them asking noisy questions.
"What if your daughter doesn't want you back?"
"Are you still going to give out the reward?"
"Have you heard the rumors about Kyatha being a criminal?"
None of them eased any of Bolins worries, his stomach knotted in knots. Asami greeted them at the curb, hugging them all happily, she explained Korra would be joining them that evening for a party but was busy with President Raiko. They took the Sato limousine to the police station, where cops had barricaded a path to the door, a huge crowd was gathered to watch the occasion, Bolin felt uncomfortable. Why did all of them care so much about Kyatha? Most probably wanted the reward.
Mako burst out of the front doors and headed over to them, he looked rather ruffled as if he slept in his clothes. There was a quick greeting but Mako could tell that Bolin and Opal needed to see Kyatha before their nerves prevented them. When Mako had checked on her earlier, Kyatha was currently mediated in the proper air nomad pose and was most likely in the spirit world. Would she be present enough to leave the spirit world and see her parents? Maybe it would be better for Opal and Bolin to see her first, and stare without insulting her.
Kyatha was located on the third floor, the trip to the cell was a silent one. Opal and Bolin were too tense to say anything. Officers nodded at Mako at the intersections, but Bolin didn't think they were going fast enough, his daughter was some where in this building. Mako slowed to a stop at a door that didn't look any different from the other in the corridor. Bolin's heart leaped, Kyatha was in there. Mako clicked his card and the door opened, Bolin sucked in a breath his daughter was there right in front of him.
Her face was a mess, a bruise over one eye and her tattoo was covered partly by a scar. Opal gasped and leaned on Bolin for support. He patted her arm sympathetically. Her hair was so short only to her chin, it used to be able to be braided back into a long braid. And her clothes were so different to what the Air nomads were accustomed to wear. Black legging with a black jacket on top. Fingerless clothes covered the arrows on her hands and black boots were on her feet.
The one thing that was the same was her meditation pose. Kyatha always had a knack for staying still and meditating.
"It's really her." Opal said, tears dripping down her cheeks.
