Chapter 27
My Great Warrior
The entire room is being overwhelmed by dazzling light; memories of Hachidaime with Zeto registered in my mind like a film.
Zeto approached the little girl, hugging her knees, tears cascading from her eyes; sound of her crying can't be heard, like it was her intention to surpass her pain. "Why are you sniveling?" the little Zeto asked the little girl.
The little girl buried her face in between her body and knees. "Go away." the little Zeto blinked innocently at her. "Please," the little girl added, however, the little Zeto decided to sit beside her.
He leaned his back against the trunk, rested his hands on top of his crouched knees as he stared at the sky with different shapes of clouds. "I thought big girls don't cry." he chuckled when he saw a bunny-shaped cloud in the sky.
"Who said that I'm crying?" she lifted her face, turned her face over her shoulder: she met Zeto's eyes. "Do you see tears in my eyes?" the tip of her forefinger is now pointing at the direction of her eyes. "Does my nose look runny to you?"
Zeto shrugged; he tilted his head to the right, like he's trying to scrutinize the little girl's face. "Your eyes are red—your nose, cheeks, ears—your face is red." he arched his lips into a smile. "Why are you sniveling?" he repeated his first question when the girl continued to let out her tears. "You can tell me."
She wiped her tears using her fingers. "Kid like you wouldn't understand." she turned her head from left to right.
"You're a kid, too, aren't you?"
"I am, but I'm excluded. Now, try to perceive the situation and get out of here. I want to be alone."
Zeto tilted his head to the left. "You're lying." she frowned. "Nobody wants to be alone—not even the saddest one. We all need someone, though it could be ourselves, however, we need someone who would be there despite the storms, the hurricanes, the tsunamis, earthquakes?" he giggled. "You don't wanna scream alone when the day of doom befall onto this place, do you?"
She frowned still. "Leave me alone." Zeto arched his lips into a synthetic smile, place his hands at the back of his head; he glided against the trunk, down to the meadow.
A dragonfly landed at the tip of his nose: his emerald-like irises moved beside their tear ducts in order for him to have a better look at the dragonfly—though I doubt that he would see it clear. "Nah, I'm not leaving a big crybaby girl alone in this serene place. You know, you shouldn't let those, whatever it is that's bothering or dragging you down, get the best of you; you should be free."
The dragonfly flew away; Zeto smiled, then shut his eyes when a gentle breeze caressed his mixture of blond and brown hair.
"I'm not a crybaby," she murmured, though Zeto seemed to have noticed it.
"I won't bother you anymore, if you let me stay here. You can rant to me: I'm all ears." she peered at him; the smile on Zeto's lips remained consistent. "I'm Zeit. Do you have a name?" a minute passed, yet she remained silent. Zeto chuckled, then opened his eyes. "That's silly, everyone have a name or two."
"Perhaps they do. However, mine's different: I have no name." she leaned her head against the trunk.
Zeto blinked twice, then he burst in laughter after a few seconds. "That's odd." the girl's lips arced a synthetic smile. "You're not kidding?" she remained silent. "I'll give you a name, then."
