Venice's POV
I'm in swim class right now, waiting to get into the pool.
I don't know what's up with Jason, though. For the past week that we came back from holiday break, Jason won't even swim. He's just been sitting on the edge of the pool with me and the rest of the black girls who refuse to get their hair wet.
Today was a change though. Jason had on his swim trunks as usual, but was shirtless now, like how he use to be when he went swimming. He had his towel over his left shoulder and walked over to me, with a pissed Luke trailing behind.
"What's wrong?" I ask Luke.
"Look what he did. His dad is gonna kill him." Luke said, pulling Jason's towel and revealing a tattoo on Jason's upper left back.
It read ROSS in big, bold, fancy writing with small doves flying around it. It was actually beautiful, but Luke was right about his dad killing him.
"Why'd you get it?" I ask.
"I got it to remind myself what's important in life and something that can never go away... Family." Jason explains, with sad eyes.
"When did you get it and who went with you?" I ask.
"A couple days after my grandfather died. I went with Justin. It's not that bad. I already showed my mom." Jason says.
"She was cool with it?" Luke asked.
"Sort of." Jason says, shrugging.
Before we can ask more questions, Jason got into the pool and began to swim towards the deep end. My biggest weakness.
I continue to look at Jason from a distance and apparently so was that girl who hates me.
Never have I ever seen her get in the pool until today. What does this bitch have up her sleeve.
As she holds onto the side, she slowly makes her way over to Jason.
Jason's POV
As I'm helping some people with their swimming, Diamond comes over to me, asking for help.
I help her with a few swimming postures, but she begins to get touchy and flirty.
"I think you got it from here." I say.
"No. I can't swim in the deep end. Take me to the shallow end." She says.
"Alright." I say, holding her.
Diamond then grabs onto my neck and wraps her legs around me.
"Don't do this, my girlfriend is watching." I warn.
"You don't need her. You can have me." Diamond whispers in my ear.
"No. I want Ven--" I am cut off by Diamond kissing me.
I try pulling her off by the waist, but she won't budge.
The only thing that stops Diamond from kissing me was Jasmine pulling her by her hair.
"Get off my brother, you ugly whore! He has a girlfriend!" Jasmine says.
When Diamond is finally off of me, I look around to find Venice. She was already storming off into the girls' locker room.
Jasmine came over to me and hit me hard in the back, right in the tattoo area.
I groaned in pain, then got out the pool.
I make my way to the boys' locker room, and shower, then dress.
On my way out, I patiently wait for Venice.
She looks at me, then gives me a death glare and walks away.
"Come here, baby. Don't be like that." I say, grabbing her waist.
"Fuck you, Jason! And fuck that bitch too! I swear if you ever interact with that bitch again, I will break up with you." I announce.
"Trust me, babe, you don't have to worry about that. I don't like her and never will. She just can't take a hint." I say.
"Well she better." Venice says in an angry tone, which sounded so cute, I had to laugh.
I walk her to class and try to kiss her, but she dodges it.
I sigh, then make my way to class.
How am I gonna get this girl to leave me alone?
》》》》》》》
Lately I've been thinking about a lot of things. I've been offered so many times to skip a grade since 4th grade. I always wanted to graduate in the same class as my sister, but I also want to graduate with Luke. And now that Venice is in my life, I'd just feel so bad leaving her. But I have to do it. Grandpa Ross told me to succeed and be the best I can be. I know I'm too smart to stay in this grade. I need to do this. I'm going to do this for grandpa.
-one week later-
After taking midterms, along with testing into 10th grade, I'm pretty exhausted.
As I get my new schedule, I realize not much changed, since I was already in advanced placement classes. The only 3 things that changed was my advanced biology is now advanced chemistry, and my freshman English is now sophomore English. As well as my study prep, I have the same class as Venice. Well there's one plus to all of this.
Venice's POV
Through the pass 2 weeks or so, Jason has really started to get on my last nerve.
I ended up changing my basic bio class to advance, so I can have some more classes with Jason, just for him to end up taking some sophomore classes now.
And he's doing that stupid thing where he just lets all types of girls be all up on him. Like for what? I'm not gonna get into fights with bitches just cause he doesn't know how to say "back off, I have a girlfriend."
As I'm walking into study prep, I see Jason talking to another bitch, again.
"Fuck, get away from my boyfriend." I say, impatiently.
"What's your problem." The girl mumbles, as she grabs her papers and leaves.
"What's wrong with you?" Jason questions.
"You and all these hoes. Can you stop being blind and look at how all these girls are over you on a regular." I state, feeling my face heat with anger.
"Calm down. I truly don't know what you're talking about. I was helping a girl with her algebra." Jason says.
"Whatever. It's not that hard to find x." I say, rolling my eyes, then looking over to glare at the girl who distant herself away from us.
"Stop being so jealous, Venice. These girls don't mean anything. I only have eyes for you." Jason states.
"I don't care. I wanna stop seeing you with these girls." I announce.
"Sweetheart, you're not my mom. I'll do what I want. Just go hang out with Renee or someone and chill for a bit." Jason says nonchalantly.
I swear this boy has tested every level of my patients.
"Ya know, you're right. Imma do that." I say, leaving the classroom, before the bell can even ring.
After skipping study prep in the lunchroom with some friends, my lunch period starts and my friends leave to go to class.
I eventually go over to my lunch table and look to see Jason isn't sitting with us today. Instead, he's sitting at the cheer table with Jasmine and the rest of the cheerleaders.
"Why weren't you in study prep and why is Jason sitting over there?" Angie asks.
"Jason pissed me off and I think he's keeping his distance." I explain.
"Did you guys break up?" She asks.
"To be honest, I think we're on the route to it." I announce.
And with that, I see a smirking Diamond from across the table.
"Yup, that's right bitch, you can have him." I say, getting up and leaving the lunchroom.

So it's been a week since I declared Jason and I to be on "break". I think we both needed it, to clear the air between us, cause I truly wanted to punch him in the throat last week. Now, I just wanna cuddle with bae.
As I'm walking to his locker, I see him making out with some blonde sophomore.
Jason sees me walking up and quickly stops kissing her.
"What the fuck, Jason?!" I say, feeling that punch him in the throat feeling again.
"Ummm.. Well you did say that we were on break." Jason says.
"Yeah. Break, as in let's take a break then pick back up in a week or two. Not let's break up and kiss other people." I say, holding back my tears.
"You could've elaborated on that a little more that just saying 'I want a break.'" Jason says, shrugging.
"You knew what I meant." I said, making my voice crack a little.
"But I didn't and I think I want to move on. I'm sick of this childish shit, Ven." Jason says, grabbing the girl's hand and leaving.

Jason's POV
After getting home from basketball practice, I see Jasmine, Venice, and Jade sitting in the living room.
"So my sweet 16 is just 2 weeks away and I want to make sure everything is gonna be perfect." Jasmine says.
I playfully roll my eyes, as I make my way into the living room.
"Shouldn't I be in this conversation, since it is my party too." I ask, then make a quick glance at Venice.
I couldn't help it, I miss her. I feel like a dick for what I said to her. I literally didn't even mean a single word that came out of my mouth. All I knew is when we went on break and I saw her with all those guys, I got hurt and I wanted to forget about her. Then I met Taylor and she told me to say those words if I wanted to get over Venice. They didn't work. They just made me miss her more.
"Look, I know what you want. You just want some type of chocolate food there and your friends and ugly girlfriend. No leave." Jasmine announces.
"Aye, chill on her.. She's your friend." I state.
"Well Venice is one of my best friends. Taylor is a hoe, so I don't talk to her anymore." Jasmine replies.
"Alright then, bye." I say, sounding dry.
"Bye." Jasmine says twice as dry.
Before I leave, I tap Venice and ask to talk to her.
"Look, I just wanted you to know I didn't mean what I said at all. If anything, you're probably-- no, you are the number one thing I still think about. But I am with Taylor now and things are going good. I don't wanna mess stuff up, so can we still talk?" I ask.
Venice mumbles what I think was a "sure" and instantly walks back over to Jasmine and Jade.
I know she's still upset about everything, and I truly do feel bad. I wanna make things right, but I can't keep hurting girls feelings. I know my grandfather would be piss if he knew that I was doing this to these girls.
What am I gonna do now?
--February 13th--
Today has been absolutely perfect. Jasmine and I woke up to the fam bursting into both of our rooms, singing happy birthday. Then when we got up, my dad and uncle lead us outside to our brand new cars. Jasmine got a black 2014 Mercedes SLK class convertible, while I got a black 2014 Mercedes G class jeep. Just like my dad's, just newer.
We got to school in the middle of the day, since we went out to breakfast, then went to get our drivers license.
Everything felt great and was falling into place. Now all I need is Venice.
The school does this Valentine candy gram thing and I thought it'd be smart to send her a dozen. Plus I'm doing something else special for her tomorrow.
I was able to end things with Taylor and still be a nice guy, so I'm happy about that.
I walk into the school with take out from Red Robins. Not my favorite place, but Venice loves their 5 alarm burger so I got it for her.
While I'm walking in, the bell rings to go to lunch. I'm right on time.
I rush to the cafeteria, to make sure Venice hasn't bought lunch yet. Luckily she's still making herself into the cafeteria.
"Hey, I picked up lunch." I say, smiling down at her.
She walks past me with no emotion.
"What? No thanks?.. Not even a happy birthday?" I say, grabbing onto her waist and walking with her.
"Go to your girlfriend, Taylor." She says, struggling to push me off of her.
"We're over. I told her who I really wanted to be with, and that's you." I say.
"Yeah, okay." Venice says, sounding like she didn't want to hear it.
"Come on, baby. You're literally the most important person to me right now, so you're really messing up my birthday by not forgiving me." I state, trying to get her to talk to me.
"I forgive you, I just don't want to talk to you." She says, looking at the ground.
I stop walking, forcing her to stop too.
I turn her, so she's facing me.
"I think you're lying. You do want to talk to me. You're just being your cute, stubborn self." I say, raising her chin with my finger so we're eye to eye.
She stays quiet, as I study her facial expression.
"I knew it." I said, smirking and causing her to smile. She likes it when I smirk.
"Come on, sweetheart. This food ain't gonna eat itself." I say, pulling a seat out for her and myself.
We tried sitting elsewhere to be secluded, but people ended up following us.

Venice's POV
Jasmine and Jason's party is absolutely amazing. I literally want my sweet 16 to be this perfect.
As Jasmine and I are on the dance floor, I see Jason staring from a distance while talking to his group of guy friends.
When were done dancing, Mine by Beyoncé comes on.
I walk over to Jason and pull him onto the dance floor with me and slowly rock back and forth in Jason's arms.
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fuck what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
All I'm really asking for is you
You're mine, you're mine
I just wanna say, you're mine, you're mine
Fuck what you heard, you're mine, you're mine
As long as you know who you belong to
It's not even my birthday, but this has been the best night I've had in a very long time.
I continue to rock back and forth, enjoying every second of it.
