I am sick

No. Not today. Why did it have to be today? Today was the one day that your boyfriend had off of work to come and take you out, and you were sick. Ridiculously sick. Your insides felt like they were boiling, but you were shivering so much that you couldn't stand not to have a blanket pulled around you. There was no way you could go out like this, and there was no way you'd let Wonwoo get sick too. You tried to text him to tell him not to come pick you up, but your hands were shaking too bad to type the message out. You figured it'd just be easier to call him, since you had his number on speed dial. The phone only rang once before he picked up.

"Hey baby, what's up?" he answered cheerfully. You opened your mouth to talk, but it was only then that you realized that your vocal chords weren't exactly functional. A soft wheeze was the only noise you were able to muster.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?" he asked, his voice sounding pretty urgent. You coughed a few times away from the receiver a few times to try and get a hold of your voice, and it only helped a little.

"I'm...*cough* just sick." your voice was strained and still very quiet, but it was better than before. "I can't go out with you today, I'm sorry."

"You sound horrible, is anyone there with you?" he asked. You knew that if you told him that you were alone he was going to try to come over and help, but you also didn't want to lie to him.

"No, but it's *cough* fine, really." you insisted. He was too busy to get sick too.

"I'll be there in a few minutes." he said. You sighed, not feeling strong enough to convince him otherwise. "I'm leaving now, I love you." he said as he hung up. You groaned and threw your phone across your mattress. You were sweaty, gross, unshowered, and barefaced. There was no way Wonwoo was going to see you like this.

Mustering up all of the motivation in your body, you rolled yourself up and out of bed. Your feet were a little wobbly and you had to hold onto your nightstand while your vision blacked out for a second, but you were determined to get to the bathroom and at least brush your teeth. You slowly made it out of your room and then across the hall to the bathroom, where your trembling hands managed (after a few tries) to get the water turned on and a stripe of toothpaste on your toothbrush. As you brushed your teeth, you noticed exactly how terrifying you looked. The mirror showed a nightmarish image; your skin was shining with sweat and oil, your hair was dirty and stuck up in every direction, and your eyes were red and watery.

You spit out the toothpaste into the sink and grabbed your hairbrush to try and attack the bird's nest on your hair, but raising your arms up to brush your hair was surprisingly difficult. You were so tired...maybe...sitting down for a second would help. You leaned down and sat down on the cold bathroom tile, letting your eyes fall closed for what felt like just a few seconds...

"Baby, wake up, are you okay?" you were woken by Wonwoo's deep voice and his hands on your shoulders. It took you a minute to register that you had fallen asleep on the floor for longer than anticipated, and that Wonwoo hadn't just magically teleported to your bathroom. He pulled you close to him and held you as tightly as he could. "God, you scared me." he whispered, rocking back and forth with you slightly.

"I just sat down for a minute and fell asleep, I'm so sorry." you croaked, trying to let him know that everything really was okay. However your voice sounded pitiful to even your own ears, and you knew that there was absolutely no way he was going to leave you by yourself for the rest of the day.

"C'mon, let's get you back into bed," he said, standing and starting to pull you up.

"No, don't," you whined, pulling away from his hold.

"What? Why?" he asked as he stopped trying to get you stand.

"I'm gross." you pouted, looking up at him. His concerned expression melted into a smile, and he laughed softly.
