"Man, I hate this," Bailey groaned. "I can't believe I gotta work twice..."
Kai teased as he was fixing his tie, "Quiv, you're the one who agreed to do this sponsor."
A person with apple-red hair was setting up their camera. Their wavy locks bounced as they looked up. They gave them a thumbs-up as they shouted, "The cameras are all set up! Have you double-checked the programming?"
The devil boy nodded. "Come on, Roux! This ain't my first rodeo! Here." He slumped his arm around Bailey's neck and leaned down. "Why don't you take a photo now? Just as a backup."
Roux chuckled and they just shook their head. "You know how I am with my work, Kai. Go ahead and walk around with Bailey for a bit until the show. The cameras are in the less crowded locations so it's not too awkward when you look at them. Stay a good few feet back so it's more natural."
Kai scoffed and straightened up his posture while Bailey waited for him. "Why don't we play a little blackjack? I've got a little cash to spend."
They went to get their chips and Kai took out a black marker and was about to draw on his hand, but Bailey stopped him with an intense glare. Kai was just about to draw a sigil on his hand to get lucky. He rolled his eyes and put it back in his pocket. "C'mon, Quiv! My cousin works here! Surely he'd cover for me! And it's gonna be real small!"
"You are not gonna fucking cheat in Z's casino, dipshit," she warned. "If I see that marker out again, I'm calling him." When they got to the table with another patron and dealer, Bailey's phone rang. She handed her chips to Kai. "It's Atticus. Don't blow your money." She walked away to somewhere quieter.
It was Z. "Feathers, I can see you from the security camera. Anyways, that little stray you found. We found him. I have a deal with a client right now, but I sent my associate to the left bar. Head over there within ten minutes to negotiate."
Bailey turned to where Roux set up the first camera and made eye contact with it. She heard a snap then nodded. "You got it, Z."
She hung up and ran her fingers through her hair, once again hearing a snap from the camera before going to the closest bar. The smell of the smoke in the air made her head dizzy and the ringing of the machines whenever someone won was starting to irritate her. She sat at the barstool and glanced at the bartender.
"Hit me with a French 75," she ordered.
He eyed her suspiciously and leaned against the counter with his arms out. "I'm gonna need some ID, kid."
Bailey grunted and reached into her pocket. She handed her human ID and he read it thoroughly before giving it back. He turned around to start making her request. The patron two seats away laughed. "I've got a feeling you get that a lot huh?"
The woman was a bit on the shorter side, though still taller than Bailey. She had black hair and grey eyes. Her hair was down to her shoulders and she had a pair of glasses framing her eyes. With a drink in her other hand, she decided to try talking with Bailey.
"With my height and baby-face, yup," Bailey jokingly replied. "But I shouldn't be surprised. I've gotten used to it."
"So you come here often? You're a new face in this kind of crowd," she commented. "A bunch of middle-aged fancy people? Who are you leeching on?"
Bailey chuckled at her. "I've been here a few. I'm actually here to meet up with a client," the bartender came back with her champagne glass, "thanks. Now it's a party. The name's Bailey. But most folks call me Goldie."
