Bailey hissed in annoyance as she took the thermometer out of Nine's mouth.

"It's just a common feline flu," she diagnosed. "Must be from fighting the tiger man. Not too surprising... Let me know if your throat starts to swell. We'll have to take you to a hospital then."

The brunette coughed into his arm as he tried to sit up. "W-What about the town?"

"Kid, your health is more important than some meeting with a fancy man in a suit," she disciplined. "I'll make you some venison soup. You need a more canine diet to fight off that. We'll take you when you're feeling better."

She left the room and immediately got to work in the kitchen. Kai had already left for his engineering class so the only one in the house was Shepherd since he didn't have Monday classes.

"S-So what's wrong with h-him?" he stammered.

"It's just a sniffle. And don't worry. It's not contagious for us," Bailey replied as she diced up the pound of deer meat. "Must be from the fight he was in. He's also fifteen, judging by his fangs. Normally he'd have a vaccine for it but seems like he doesn't." She threw the meat and vegetables in a large pan to sizzle in the oil before draining it. "Why don't you give him some books? I'm expecting company for..." Bailey paused to check the time, "brunch."

Shepherd nodded. "H-He learned fast. He finished the b-book last night after you fell a-asleep."

The older hybrid nodded. "That's good. I'm not surprised though. The kid's got street-smarts."

An hour passed by and she finished making four bowls of soup, with some leftovers in a pot. She got a phone call from her grandfather as she watched some TV.

"Afternoon, Sweetie!"

"Still noon for me, Grandog."

She heard him laugh on the other end. It was full of warmth and life. Even if she couldn't see him, Bailey could feel his presence and she couldn't help but chuckle with him. "You know how I am with time zones, my dear. I just wanted to check on you with the full moon coming up."

"Yeah, I get it. I just bought a bunch of groceries. Say, do you know if Lyra's school has any late start programs?"

"I'm pretty sure they do! It'd surprise me if they didn't. 'Specially since the academy is very diverse. Why?"

"Juuuust asking," she replied. She heard a knock on the door. Right, Nadia mentioned she was going to stop by in the morning. It was the entire reason she was making the soup. "Mind if I call you later? I've got company over."

"Oh! Are you seeing someone?"

The stupid question irked her. She could practically hear his tail swishing excitedly. "...No. I'm not. And if I were, you would've known."

"Hey! I'm just making sure," he teased. "Bye."

He hung up and Bailey got up to answer the door. She calmly took in a breath before opening it. "H-Hey, Nadi."

"Good to see you're still moving, sweetheart," the brunette commented with that thick accent of hers. "May I come in?"

The hybrid moved out of the way to let her in. Nadia was wearing a sleeveless crop-top and jean shorts that showed off the butterfly on her thigh. Bailey made sure to keep her head up. "I... uh... made soup. Do you want some... soup?"

Any suave that Bailey had before was completely down the drain. Her guest snickered at her. "No need to be nervous, dear. We're just going to have a talk." They sat across from each other. Bailey making sure to pull out a chair then pushing it in gently. "Aren't you a lady?"
