Start of Something New

   The pain in Shepherd's stomach subsided after a few hours, just like the doctor said. Kai sighed as he sat next to his friend. His leg was anxiously bouncing. A nervous habit he had since he was a child. Tiffany was staying by his side.

Maybe she should try and distract Kai for a bit. "So you know Goldie's twin brother? I haven't seen him in class for a bit. Testing is coming up so I'm wondering if he's going to skip it."

Kai sighed. He appreciated what Tiffany was doing. "Storm is up at some tropical resort getting our summer house ready. He'll be coming back before the exams this week. He actually got one of his cousins to help."

"That's cool. Is he a construction worker or something?"

"Actually no. Ben is a web designer, but he's helping them out since, you know, family."

Tiffany's face suddenly fell. No, it couldn't be THAT Ben, but curiosity got the best of her. "That's neat. Uhm... do you have a picture of him?"

Kai thought for a bit. He took out his phone and went on Storm's QuickiePic. "Here. Stormy posted a picture of him." It was just as Tiffany figured. Ben really was related to Bailey. They have the family black hair and even similar eye colors. Kai noticed how disheartened she looked. "Is something wrong? You worried about Shep? He'll be fine. We can check on him in a few minutes."

"It's not that. D-Do you... remember that boy a couple of years back?"

The devil boy tried to remember what she meant. "The one who slept with almost every girl you know?" His blue eyes widened. "Wait..." All he was getting was white noise, but when his face cringed in disgust, Tiffany knew that he got the pieces together. "Ew... EW. UGH. That. That is nasty. I mean, I knew the dude turned into a player, but to go out and cheat on someone like that? Hold on, does Goldie know?"

The cheerleader shook her head. All the feelings she had for Bailey were suddenly contorted into a ball. She couldn't tell if it was good or bad. "Probably not. But... I can't say for sure now. I... don't know how to feel now." She looked down. "If Ben was like that, is Bailey like that? And she never said that we were serious, but still..."

Kai scowled as he snorted. Tiffany looked up and couldn't help but notice that all his teeth were pointed. "Tiffany Maye, Bailey is not like that douchebag. She may not be an exclusive relationship with you, but she is not a cheater."

"I know! But, it's just a bunch of mixed feelings now. Ben just up and left after we found out he cheated, then learning he and Bailey are related?" Tiffany struggled to find the words. "It's just... a really weird situation..."

Kai sighed. "Guess it's my turn to change the topic, huh? So you get how Bailey is a hybrid?"

Tiffany nodded. "Well, yeah."

"Anyway, Lil G is a werewolf hybrid. Manny is actually a werewolf-fairy hybrid."

Tiffany had a confused look. "Fairy? How does that work?"

Kai shrugged. "Beats me. I think it's a timing thing. He has a sister who's like, three hundred years old. Fairies live a long time." Kai summoned a book in his hands, which startled Tiffany but relaxed quickly. "Oh. Sorry. I'm a bit of a hybrid I guess. I'm a devil or tiefling. Either one. It's a curse from my mom's side. Supposedly any boy from her bloodline will be born like me. At least we have a way to disguise human."

After a couple of hours, Shepherd was allowed to leave. The three walked to the car.

"I'm s-sorry about w-what happened. Something happened with e-either Quills or G-Goldie," he muttered.
