Rory and Miller make it back to camp safely, not encountering any grounders on their way. They get back to their allocated foxhole, and quickly make their way through the tunnel leading into the main part of camp. When they break through, they see the surviving gunners and fighters stood at their posts, all looking worse for wear. However, when they see her walking towards them unscathed, their morale lifts once more.
Rory looks around at her people, noticing the decrease in their numbers instantly. But, she was expecting it to be much worse. She hands her empty rifle to one of the delinquents passing her and nods her head at Miller, allowing him to take up his post on the wall. She makes her way to her own position, taking her place with the other fighters, no longer having her gun. She looks to her left, then to her right, wanting to know exactly who she's fighting alongside: Jason and Jessica, the girl from the dropship when they landed.
"They've broken through!" One of the gunners on the wall shouts. "There's hundreds of them! They're heading for the gate! Game over, man!"
"Game not over!" Rory screams. "Fall back and protect the gate."
The grounders charge straight at the wall. The gunners there put up a good fight, taking out as many as they can with the few bullets they have remaining but, it's not enough. They're badly outnumbered, and each second that passes leads to more and more grounders breaking through the gunfire and starting to climb the slope to the wall.
"There are too many!" Miller calls out. "Everybody to the dropship now!"
"No! Hold your ground!" Rory shouts. She whirls around to look at the dropship. "Clarke, I need an update on Prometheus!"
"We need more time, we're not ready yet." Clarke shouts back.
Rory nods her head, then looks back at her people. "Gunners, stay at your posts! Fighters, stay at your posts! That gate has to stay up for as long as possible. When they get it down, we push them back for as long as possible." She commands. "Everyone else, retreat."
They all nod their heads, repositioning themselves in accordance to the new aim. Everyone else quickly runs to the dropship, Clarke stood at the top of the ramp ushering them all in. "Come on, quick."
Suddenly, the woods and camp start to shake, an explosion attracting everyone's attention. They all look skywards and that's when they see it. A ball of white hot light descending through the atmosphere. Rory follows the trail of light backwards, searching for the spot in the sky where she knows the Ark to be. She can't help but gasp, her mouth dropping open slightly, when she finds the spot empty and realises that it's not help from the Ark. It's the Ark. The actual Ark is tumbling to the ground.
Everyone, including the grounders in the woods, watch in silence. From on the ground, they can just about make out the Ark separating into individual stations. Some turn to fireballs instantly, but a few don't. A few manage to get their thrusters to turn on and to start a safe landing. None of them know it yet, but Mecha station is one of the lucky ones, safely landing on Earth containing three people they all long thought dead: Alexander Montgomery, Abigail Griffin, and Marcus Kane.
