01) His Ring.

Hey guys! Welcome to Chapter 1 of my first story. The beginning is always the hardest for me; so bare in mind. It may be slow to start with, I have no current plans on this story and making it up as I go along and hoping to make some kind of plan on the way.

I'm going to state this now, my writing majorly improved during the time of releasing this book, there are two main story lines, the first one ends when the second begins around chapter 10/11. These first few chapters just set everything in place for the story, and what it needs. 

 Enjoy :)

Through the story, there will be occasional POV changes. So please, be weary of them.

'Pain is numbed by those we love...'

Marinette's POV:

The rain had stilled. The once silver ring now retained its black coating, leaving its signature green paw on the center. My hair, coated in water, was glued to my face. Clenched in my fist laid the ditched miraculous. Walking home was second nature; I let my feet take me to my destination. Walking in silence, a familiar beeping signaled the fall of my transformation, my red suit vanished and revealed Marinette. Plain old Marinette. The smell of Cinnamon Buns gave a sense of comfort, stepping into the warm surrounding of my Bakery, luck was on my side with my parents being at the back, I didn't feel like talking at all. Shutting the trapdoor to my room shut, I flung the low hanging bag off my shoulder, and into the corner of my room.

"Owch." A tiny voice yelped from my bag.

Shoot.

"I'm sorry, Tikki and Plagg. Are you both okay?" I forced myself to speak, summoning the red and black Kwamis to expose themselves.

"We're fine. But what happened back there? Why did Chat leave?" Plagg questioned, getting comfy on the pillow of my bed.

"I don't know. It wasn't like him. Something about that akumatized victim threw him off. It wasn't an easy defeat, they almost got our identities!" I sighed, Tikki flew over and comforted me, hugging my cheek. My mind wandered back to moments before it had happened. Chat's cataclysm was missed-timed and hit the wrong object, wasting his power. We locked eyes as he helplessly watched The Dark Owl (Going to ignore the name, I'm not creative.) back me into a corner, his outstretched hand reaching for my earrings. Chat laid curled in a ball, why was his suit not preventing the damage? His eyes met mine, the brightness that once sparkled had dimmed, sadness replaced it. I couldn't look. Feeling a tug at my ears, I look to see TDO taking off my earrings. Succumbing to our defeat, I was ready to give up. A sudden force knocked him out, Chat must've salvaged whatever strength he had left in him to knock him off.

"Chat! Why would you do that? You stupid Cat!" I was annoyed, seeing him in pain broke my heart.

"I couldn't let Milady have her miraculous taken away from her." I sighed at his remark, slowly getting up and snapping TDO's wings in half. A black Akuma fluttered out. Whipping my yoyo around to catch the black butterfly, purifying it with my special weapon.

"Bye-bye, little butterfly." releasing it into the wild. Picking up my useless lucky charm, an Umbrella, I chucked it into the air, letting my miraculous Ladybugs repair the damage havoc on the streets of Paris. A broken Chat limped over to me.

"Chat? What's wrong?" My voice carried out into the night, only to be met with silence.

"Close your eyes." He whispered, to which I did.

A small object laid in the palm of my hand, a green light causing me to squint.

"Chat... What're you doing?" The confusion was clear in my voice.

"Shhh." His hand wrapped mine around the object, planting a small kiss as he did so.

"Don't open your eyes, you wouldn't want the cat out of the bag, now do you?" his attempt at lightening the mood failed. "I'm sorry, I could've done better." His voice broke.

"Chat, don't-" He covered my mouth, cutting me off.

"Let me finish. Because of me, you almost lost your miraculous. I can't risk doing that again, you need to find a better Chat Noir. I renounce you, Plagg." His voice cracked, wiping the falling tears from my face. "I love you, My Lady." A cold slap of air hit my face as his hand departed, hearing footsteps run off into the distance, leaving a broken-hearted me alone in the rain. I opened my eyes to be alone with my surroundings, dropping to the floor with sobs caught in my throat.

"What am I going to do without him? What is Ladybug without Chat Noir?" My legs crumpled up beneath me, falling to the ground.

"Plagg, you know who his identity is, couldn't you talk to him?" My voice perked up dramatically.

"Ngh, I suppose. If you ask me, he's being extremely dramatic. Today's only Thursday, take me into school with you and I'll see what I can do."

"Back up, does that mean I go to school with Chat Noir?" My suspicions were immediately raised.

"Let's save the questions for tomorrow night after I've spoken to the stray cat."

"Marinette, you must sleep, it's getting late!" Tikki's voice squeaked. Looking at the time

11:17pm

"You're right. Plagg, make yourself at home." I already knew I won't get much sleep tonight, my mind was too busy piecing together today's events. Inside? I was panicking. On the outside, I was putting on my fake exterior. All I know is that I wouldn't be the same until my Chat comes back to me. All I can hope is that he's okay.

A/N

Thank you all for reading the first chapter of my story, I apologize for its length, its late and I'm very tired. I promise this story does pick up, and will for sure have some fluff in it. Please be patient. 

The next chapter will most likely be short too; and also be in Adrien's perspective. 

Once the story gets into a rhythm and I find the story line / plot, the length and depth of the chapters will deepen. I have a brief idea on what will go down, but I do need fillers.
