Marinette's POV:
The truth is, feelings that come back... are feelings that never left. Sadness bubbled inside of me as Alya refused to even look at me, or acknowledge my existence. She'd shifted seats with Adrien which meant him and I would now sit together whilst Nino and Alya paired up, I'm sure it was better this way.
"Hey," The comfort of Adrien's voice snapped out of my head, "It's all going to work out, I promise." Reaching his hand out to hold mine.
"I know... It's just," I sighed before continuing, "I'm overly hurt with her believing Lila over me. I thought I was her best friend." His eyes showed so much compassion, lost in his field of green.
"You still are her best friend, I'm sure this whole thing is a big misunderstanding." Adrien tried to convince me.
"You don't get it. I've always been there for her, listening to her problems with Nino or her fights with her siblings, and yet she chose Lila over me. What's wrong with me? What's so good about Lila that she chose to take her side instead of mine? Where did I go wrong..." Tears threatened to spill, clenching my jaw shut to prevent a waterfall.
"Mari, look at me." He tilted my chin so our faces could meet, "There is nothing wrong with you. You're amazing, smart, funny, extremely clumsy," His voice lowered to a whisper, "And you're Ladybug. No one else can say that. Only you." His thumb traced my cheek to wipe away a stray tear.
"Save those tears for another day, don't give into your negative emotions. Chat Noir can't purify any Akuma's." He teased.
"Thank you. I needed that." Pulling him in for a hug.
"Always." Hugging me tighter.
"But how are we going to stop Lila?" My voice was muffled against his chest.
"I don't know. It's not going to happen today, just remember you still have Chloe and I." His fingers ran through my hair, relaxing me.
"Mari?" Adrien released me from his grasp.
"Yeah?" Looking up at him.
A smile tugged on his lips, "Let's do something together after school, just you and I."
"That is like the best idea you've ever had." Winking at the model, earning a pout from him.
"Are you and Nino good?" I question.
"Yeah, I think so." He replied.
"That's good."
"Adrien," Nino tapped on his back, "This is for Marinette." Passing him a scrunched up note."What does it say?" He leaned over my shoulder as I carefully opened the paper.
I told you I would make your nightmares a reality, and I'm only just beginning.
In a moment of rage I crumpled the paper up in a ball, throwing it away in an attempt to aim for the bin. Adrien had turned his gaze to Lila, a glare coating his face. She looked so innocent, as if she wasn't even tormenting me.
"What did it say?" Chloe leaned across the gap of our tables.
"She plans to make my nightmares a reality, I don't think she realises she is my nightmare." I rolled my eyes, falling back into my chair with my arms folded.
"One of these days I swear I'm going to put Lila in her place." Chloe leaned back into her seat in a huff. I giggled slightly at her words.
"Trust you to make everything violent." Adrien replied, interlocking his hands with mine. His fingers gently squeezed my own, radiating comfort from his touch.
