Wings of Fire Reunion

Chapter 7

All she could see was the view of trees, although it was blurry. Moon shut and opened her eyes multiple times. She screamed in fear, but quickly closed her mouth from releasing her valuable oxygen.

Moon padded her feet, her body feeling soar from the boulders she fell on. She kept on paddling, ignoring the pain in her head, until she could see smooth rocks.

"MOON! I'm so sorry!" A voice said, shaking her up as she reached the surface.

Moon didn't need to look up to know who it was.

She gagged water out and touched her forehead, which was bleeding a little.
She got up and shock her wings which were heavy from all the water drops.

"Thank the moons, you're alright"
Moon finally looked up and Qibli, who was still worried.

"I'm fine.. we should get back" Moon shivered a little from coldness.

"Um, you sure? It's only been a few minutes since you got out" Qibli tried to brush his wings against her's because he noticed she was shivering a little.

"Yeah... I'm sure" Moon ran back to the hut quickly, before Qibli was able to touch her.

What was that about? Did I make her uncomfortable? I just wanted to make her warm. She looked hesitant, like she didn't want to have contact with me. Ugh, I don't know. Figure it out.

Qibli rushed to catch up with her.

Before Moon was able to get inside Qibli grabbed some sheets.

"Is that better?" He wrapped the blankets around her, looked up with hopeful eyes.

"Yes, it is. Thank you" She wrapped herself even move and stepped into the hut, dripping little drops of water as she walked.

As they entered, Winter was sleeping and so was everyone else in the other rooms.

Moon slowly sat in her bed, not being able to sleep as time passed by. She took off the blankets since it was soaked, making her colder. Her wingtips shock fast as she started to shiver.
Can I make a fire? Not in here of course. Maybe I can just breath a little bit of Fire? No, no, better safer then sorry.
Her body wasn't even listening to her at this point. Stop dragging attention to yourself! What if Qibli's awake? I'll be distributing his sleep.

Qibli slowly blinked with his black eyes. He was about to go to sleep until he heard little noises. A slat, well more of a bump.
Was Moon still awake? Or is it Winter?
He turned around to see Moon rubbed her palms together and looked frightened to see him.

"Oh! I'm sorry! Did I wake you?" She whispered, turned her head at him.

Qibli looked at her body language. Her wingtips were shaking slightly and she was just rubbing her palms.
He got out of his bed and walked over to her.

"Can I see that scroll you're reading?" He looked at her eyes then at the opened scroll that layer next to her.

"Oh... uh. Sure?" Moon grabbed it and flipped it, her talons shaking.

"It's about history." She passed it to him.

"Can you read it to me?" Qibli asked.
"But-"
"It can't sleep, and I prefer someone reading it to me" he answered before she could ask.

"I'm be happy to" Moon smiled at him, Qibli was surprised there was a pinch of excitement in her voice.

"Can I sit on your bed?" He asked.
"Um."
He could see her face turned happy to nervousness. But why? They knew each other but years, he seen her comfortable with him before but why was she acting nervous all of a sudden?

"It's okay if not" Qibli put her feelings before his curiosity.

"No, no, no! It's completely fine!" Moon grabbed his talons, whispering a little too loud.

"Shhh" Qibli laughed, delighted by seeing her embarrassed and happy.

He sat on her bed as she read to him. He slowly slid closer to her, making sure his heated scales touched hers. Her body stop shivering which was a good sign. They laughed and talked until he noticed her reading was getting slower.

"I'm tried. Aren't you?" Moon yawned.

"Sorta" although the SandWing wanted to flop and close his eyes.

"Goodnight" she mumbled. She crossed her arms and lowered her head to the soft blankets.

"Night" he said softly as he stretched his wings over hers.

I should leave now, she's asleep. His mind whispered.
But she looks so peaceful! Qibli's heart beamed.
Exactly, which was the plan. His mind yelled.
A few more minutes He told himself.

A few minutes turned into a few hours. And Qibli shock his head up in confusion and fear.
Did I fall asleep?!!
Idiot! You did! He answered himself.

You might think after his mistake it would be easier to leave her.
WRONG!

He looked down and saw Moon leaned into him, her head against his neck. Her teardrop glowing at the moonlight creeped along the wooden roofs.

Qibli took a death breath, which was shakily.
He could feel his heart pound faster.
Qibli put his talons over his chest as he wanted to claw it.
Stop it.
Stop it! Get off of her bed, don't catch more feelings, Stop looking at her! Stop pounding so fast! His mind yelled.

He glanced at her one more time while trying to calm himself down. He took her head and gently lowered it and he was soon standing next to her and her bed.

He scanned her intently as he looked at her.
Her claws moved and she leaned right, which is where Qibli would have been if he hadn't moved. She softly groaned in disappointment when she didn't feel him.

Qibli felt a rush of happiness.
Does she miss me? Does she wish I was there? I do.
His wings twitched as he saw her rushing out her talons.

"Qibli?" He thought he heard from her, which was a mix of a whisper and mumble.

Was she dreaming? About me? No. She's awake.

"Hey" he whispered.

"Are you going now?" Moon mumbled.

"I-yes. Yes I am"

"Oh, Okay" there was a pause.
"Goodnight and thank you" and she rolled herself up.

Qibli walked to him bed, now having trouble sleeping as he remembered her steady breathing.

He sighed and slept away, excited for tomorrow where he would spend more time with his claw mates and Moon.
Kinda nervous about it.
He shouldn't.
Well he should, Winter was here.
Did he still love her?
Qibli hoped he didn't fall for her again.
Well, it's kinda a little late for that after feeling his heart beam.
But I can control myself right?
I'll just have to wait a see. We'll I fall in love with you again or get over you?
