a/n: you're birthday will be on May 25th (idk it's a random date). I also came up with a random number for the identification number.

I awoke from Emma's optimistic shouting. "Come on everyone, time to get up!!" she shouted. That girl has a lot of energy in her. I mean most six year olds are energetic.
I got dressed and headed to the dining room. I was the oldest kid there. All of my other friends who were around my age got adopted. My twelfth birthday is today, so today is the day I say goodbye to this place. I wonder what my parents will be like. All I know is that I'm going to miss life here. I'm glad I met people like my friends and Norman, Ray, Emma, and all of the other kids in this orphanage (even though they were all younger than me).
I caught a glimpse of Ray looking at the calendar and sighing while looking sad. Was he that sad that I was leaving? He probably won't even remember me once I leave considering that I'm all older than them. That goes for all the children here.
"Thank you for this meal." I said along with the rest of the kids. They all wished me happy birthday as we were eating. I was going to miss them so much, it hurt to see them sad that it was my last day here.
We did our daily test right after breakfast. I don't know why I needed to take the test if I was leaving, but decided not to question it. I usually got perfect scores. In the room was me, Norman, Ray, Emma, and Gilda. Norman and Ray are seven years old, Emma is six years old (she's turning seven in August), and Gilda had turned six not so long ago. Children who who six and above took these tests.
"Let's review your test scores." mom said taking a look at the clipboard in her hands, "Y/n, Norman, Ray, and Emma all got perfect scores again."
"Yay!" Emma screamed out. I looked over and saw her hands up in the air in excitement, while Ray had and emotionless expression on his face. Norman just smiled sheepishly.
"Let's go play outside!!" Emma shouted. Gilda smiled and all the kids ran outside. I was going to join them but needed to use the bathroom first.
I headed to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I pulled my collar a bit to reveal the numbers on my neck. 56094. I sighed as I wondered what would happen to my number once I get adopted. Would it stay, or is there a way to take it off?

time skip

The time finally came and I was now saying goodbye to the people I called family. I basically wore a suit but instead of pants, it was a skirt, along with a matching hat. Emma was in tears to see me go. All the kids didn't want me to leave. Ray looked scared but it also looked like his heart shattered. Poor kid. I was quite close with him. If I had to be honest, I was closer to him than most of the other kids here.
"We'll miss you y/n!" Don said.
"I'll miss you guys too." I said, "I'll write to you guys."
I looked down and saw Ray in front of me, looking up at me. It was like he was begging me to stay by using his eyes.
I kneeled down in front of him. I smiled at him as he crashed into my arms.
"Please don't go." he said, "What if something bad happens."
"Hey, nothing will happen." I said reassuring him, "You can't get rid of me that easily." I giggled trying to make him feel better. It looked like he didn't believe a word I said. Poor kid.
"Well we better go now." mom said while picking up my suitcase. I waved goodbye as I headed out the doors with mom.
I could've been a mom, but I declined mom's recommendation when she brought it up to me. Being a mom at an orphanage was not something I wanted in my future.
Mom was humming what sounded like a lullaby on our way to the gate. That's strange.... I could've sworn that I heard Ray humming that same tune one time.... Oh well, he probably just picked it up from her.
The gate opened for us and I saw a vehicle there. Before I can walk towards the vehicle, I heard mom say "Over here." and I followed her into a room.
What was waiting for me was something I was not prepared for. I saw a hideous creature standing right before my eyes. A demon if you will.
"She's ready for you sir." mom said. What was mom doing??
"Ah yes, Bayon would love this. A Gracefield kid at the hunting ground. How lovely." the demon looked at me sinisterly while mom nodded and left the room.
"Mom??" I asked, my voice quavering. She ignored me and left the room.
I didn't know what to do. I was scared. What was going on?? Where are the people who were supposed to adopt me??
I looked around to see if anything could help me. I found a letter opener and grabbed it. It's a good thing I have a great aim, whether it's throwing or kicking something. I looked at the demon and threw the letter opener at one of it's lower eyes. I growled in pain as I ran out through the door on the other side. There was no point in going through the door I previously came in from, since the gate was locked.
I ran through what looked like an outdoor corridor as I felt adrenaline pumping through my veins. Ray mentioned earlier that what if something bad happened.... is this what he meant? Did he know what was going to happen to me?
I didn't have time to ask myself unanswerable questions. I had to think. I don't even know where I'm going. Before I can even process which way to go, I felt something hit my head with a loud thud. I immediately fell to the floor as my vision grew a bit blurry.
I turned around and saw my suitcase laying not so far away from me, which was probably what hit my head. Then I saw the same demon walking towards me.
"No..." I said, my voice raspy as I tried to crawl. That demon hit me at a pretty good spot.
"Time to go to Gol..." I didn't hear a thing he said after that, for I had blacked out.

Okay I feel like that was really bad lmao. I don't think this is going to get many reads, but I hope whoever read this enjoyed it <3
