Peter couldn't help his nerves when he met his eyes with Erik's. He knew that this conversation could go a multitude of ways and because of that, he was admittedly more scared than he thought he was gonna be going back into the mansion. He initially just needed a few things to stay at David's house, and they were gonna leave until Peter got the courage to come back, but now it felt forced, almost like he was being scolded by the universe for running away from his problems. It was difficult, these feelings. Peter didn't know David was going to freak out with his powers like that. Because of the commotion, The duo came running, rightly so, and if that couldn't get any worse, Erik wanted to talk. He was feeling guilty for not wanting to speak with him, but can you blame him? Erik now knew he was Peter's father, which made it all the more difficult to speak with him.
"Peter?"
That's why he was so frustrated at Charles for even needing to confess that kind of thing in the moment of time. You would think he'd maybe be more compassionate about it but it seemed like Charles just told him to lift the weight of it being a secret, and to Peter, it was the ultimate disrespect. He needed that time for himself, it was his secret to tell. Now, instead of trying to get Erik to slowly like him over time, Erik probably feels like it's an obligation now. That he has to be his father because he had no other choice. But what Peter's more scared about, is the decision he most anticipated when he thought about confessing to his Dad. The choice of whether or not Erik will stay and support Peter as his father, or abandon him as the result of his deep fear of loss.
"Peter?"
When Peter thought about Erik staying, he had to admit, warmth filled his body at the idea. He wanted that kind of figure for as long as he could remember. His childhood felt empty with his mother, she didn't teach him anything really. Just to stay away from danger, and always keep himself presentable. She never liked his hair, always asked if she could buy him hair dye when they were shopping. She thought that his hair was a big give-away to him being a mutant, to which he agreed with, although, he liked his hair, it made him feel good. He explained to her that it was part of his look, and she couldn't say anything more. When he turned 18 was when she finally showed her true colours. She ended up admitting all of her grievances to Peter that day, how she couldn't stand how he looked, how much she hated his attitude. Peter's sisters, Wanda and Laura stood up for him as best they could then, but he felt as if they also despised him, they just couldn't help but intervene when things around the house started breaking. Peter wondered about what Erik would say or do once he sees her, or if he even does.
"Peter?"
His sisters are two different women, but he idolized them both growing up, even despite the age difference. They looked normal, and mom didn't bother them about their appearance all that much despite them being girls. She was always worried about how Peter's image affected the family though, especially when there was a long period of time where Peter became a complete kleptomaniac and it resulted in multiple appearances of the police showing up to the house. To which in the end, he did feel bad for, but honestly, at that time the only thing that provided him with any endorphins, was stealing, so he couldn't help it. His mental health scared her, but she was always so aggressive about it. That's why he freaked out on Erik the day he left, the interaction had reminded Peter of his mother. Her screaming would just get louder and louder, and most of the time his speed would kick in without control because of his flight or fight response, but Peter had been too weak when he was with Erik.
"Peter!" He swore his soul jumped out of him once he realized Erik was speaking to him. He hadn't meant to doze off in his thoughts. He shot Erik an apologetic look while he got his breathing under control.
