TWENTY TWOTHERE WAS A cathedral in Mondstadt, almost as tall as a mountain it stood. The sun's cascading light was filtered by the grand, architectural design; its shadows cast off below it, providing great shade for the young woman who stood below it.
(Y/n) kept her gaze on the extravagant double doors of the temple, idly listening to the melody of the choir coming from inside. She wasn't much of a pious follower, but her own had a small place in her heart.
Every time she opened her mouth, the same words hung over the tip of her tongue. Sometimes she tried to bite it back, preventing it troll spilling over her lips and down her chin.
But in truth, she had never felt so alone.
The loud sigh she let out caught the attention of a nun who made her way up the steps, taking a second glance when she spotted the distressed look on (Y/n)'s face.
"My child," She called out to her as she in her closer. "I sense that whatever grave sin you carry with you is weighing heavily on your heart..."
(Y/n) glanced across her shoulder. "Hm?"
"I'm Victoria, from the church," She politely introduced herself. "I listen to confessions and—when necessary—give some guidance."
"That being said, would you like to join us?" Victoria gave her a gentle smile.
(Y/n) stared wide eyed at her. "...I'll think about it," Were the words she settled for.
Victoria nodded politely. "When you are ready to repent, do not hesitate and come find me."
The young woman turned her attention to the doors again as the nun entered the cathedral, the choir's voices sounding as clear as glad until they were drowned out by the closing entrance.
A grand bell rang from above, indicating the arrival of the crimson afternoon.
(Y/n) turned heel, locks of (h/c) hair thrown behind her in the motion. She cautiously walked down the steps, listening to her shoes as they pressed against the stone.
Her eyes then curved in frustration. "...I don't even know why I came here," She mumbled to herself.
"Perhaps it's a little something called fate?"
(Y/n) glanced up, looking around herself until she spotted the familiar face belonging to the bard.
The woman cracked a smile. "I don't think it's fate," She retorted.
Venti shrugged both shoulders with a curve to his lips. "Well, who's to say it isn't?" He said.
The bard then glanced past her, his eyes staring off to the cathedral behind. "Y'know, I didn't take you as the pious type," He said. "Neither a follower of the Anemo Archon too."
(Y/n) loosely crossed her arms over the other. "I'm not," She explained. "I thought I'd get some fresh air and wound up here, that's all."
The woman's gaze flickered towards the enormous statue ahead of them, her eyes exploring the smooth, concrete figure.
"Watcha looking at?" Venti blinked his vibrant, teal eyes.
