I awoke the next morning with my communicator beeping. "General [Y/N] speaking," I yawned into the comm.

"Sounds like you're enjoying your time off," Padme sweetly replied. I snuck out of bed, careful not to wake Rex. I closed the door behind me and went to sit on the couch.

"Padme, long time no see," I said.

"Uh huh, yet you didn't tell me you were free." I hadn't seen the Senator in so long. It's not that I didn't want to see her, I just wanted to spend more time with Rex.

"I'm sorry, just been enjoying the quiet."

"It's been too quiet here. I need excitement. Ani got sent with Windu on some mission. Something about showing off to some new cadet kids." I laughed. I could tell she was upset he didn't get time off.

"So, what would you like to do?"

"How about dinner? The two of us tonight. I'll come pick you up."

"Sure, sounds good to me! Just send a message when you're on your way." I wondered if Ani had told her about Rex. Guess we'd find out tonight. We said our goodbyes and I went to work on breakfast. I plated everything then went to wake Rex up. I opened the door to his light snoring. He looked so peaceful; I couldn't bear to wake him up. I instead went to lay down next to him. He opened his eyes slightly, then smiled and opened his arms to me. I curled up into his arms and felt his chest rise and fall.

"Who were you talking to?" He asked sleepily.

"Padme, she wants to have dinner." He groaned. "I'll only be gone for a little bit." He pulled me in tighter.

"Alright but be safe. Let me know if you want me to come get you." I smiled and kissed his chin. His stubble was rough against my lips. He looked down at me and kissed me sweetly.

"I made breakfast," I chimed.

"Tempting." He wrapped his arms around me tighter. "But I like this a lot more." His hand slid down to my lower back, pulling my hips into his. My cheeks burned, after what Aayla sent, stuff like this was easily embarrassing.

"Rex," I sighed. I looked up and found he was as red as I was. He kissed my forehead.

"So, breakfast?" He pulled away. I felt a wave of sadness and maybe disappointment. I followed him. He was putting the plates on the table. The food was warm now, but I don't think Rex noticed with how fast he ate it. We were just doing small talk. Afterwards, we did the dishes and talked about what to do for the day. We ended up just walking the upper streets of Coruscant, going into different stores, trying new foods. I got a simple dress and heels for dinner tonight with Padme. We headed back to the hotel so I could get ready. I pulled my hair up into a bun, attempting to control it. I never put effort into my hair; there was no time in battle to be pretty. I had bought a simple makeup kit while we were out, and I did the best I could to look presentable. Nothing too fancy, just some eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. I moved my stuff from my backpack into a smaller bag I had bought. As I was moving stuff, I found a random box. I turned bright red on seeing it. When did Aayla get into my bag? I left the box there and moved what I needed to. I stepped out into the living room. Rex was reading over something on his tablet. He slowly panned his eyes up to mine, a soft smile on his lips.

"You look beautiful," he stood, walking towards me.

"Just trying to compare to the Senator," I joked. He kissed me softly.

"You've far surpassed her." I'm glad Ani wasn't here to hear that. He'd throw fists if anyone said someone was prettier than Padme. My comm started beeping. I pulled it out, Padme was asking for my address. I gave it to her, knowing she'd be here soon. Now that I had my heels on, the top of my head came to Rex's eyes. This made it easier to kiss him. Our moment ended too soon, my comm started beeping again, letting me know Padme was here. I kissed Rex goodbye then left. I hated leaving him, but if I didn't pull away soon, I'd just stay there for the rest of the night. The air was chilled outside. Padme was standing next to a cruiser; a Naboo guard was in the driver's seat.

"[Y/N]!" Padme came running over and hugged me. It was good to see her. I felt bad about not seeing her for this long, but I wasn't going to get alone time like this with Rex often. We got into the cruiser and she started talking about what was happening in the Senate. I reached out and put a hand on hers.

"Padme, let's relax tonight and not worry about work." She gently smiled.

"I know, but there's just so much going on. I just feel like we're losing support everyday this war continues on."

"It's going to be ok. It'll be over before you know it." We arrived in front of the restaurant. It wasn't big or glamorous, but it did give off an aura of fancy. We went in and sat down. Padme ordered a bottle of wine for the table and we started chatting. She must have been waiting for me to finish my first glass of wine when she asked about Rex.

"So, I heard you have a certain Captain in your life."

"I see Ani still tells you everything," I joked, pouring another glass.

"So, tell me! How is it? How is he?"

"I enjoy being with him. He helps a lot when it only feels like war. Just to have someone there makes the difference."

"Is it odd he's a Clone? I mean no offense or anything, but doesn't he look like everyone else in the 501st?"

"No, I don't see it that way. They may all look similar, but not exactly the same. Plus, the Force allows us to see people for who they are. Rex may look like every other Clone to you, but to me, he's one of a kind." She smiled at that. We finished eating and drinking. She ended up ordering another bottle. It wasn't until I went to stand that I realized how much I had drank. We made it back to the cruiser.

"Driver, to [Y/N]'s place." On the way there, we joked and laughed. She was also a little tipsy.

"Are you going to make it home ok?" I was worried now. The driver spoke up.

"No need to worry, I'll get Ms. Amidala home safely." Padme told me the driver had been taking her places for years now. That made me feel better. We arrived at the front of the hotel.

"Tell Rex I said hello!" Padme called as I got out. I smiled back at her than made my way in. I unlocked the door and found Rex snoozing on the couch, the tv in the background. I put my bag softly then when to sit by him. He woke up startled, but his gaze softened when he saw it was me.

"Did you and the Senator have fun?" He asked sitting up.

"Uh huh, it was good to see her." I nuzzled under his arm and wrapped my arms around him.

"I can tell you two had fun." I knew he could smell the alcohol on me. I moved back than softly kissed him.

"And how can I make up for leaving you here all alone?" He smirked, then twisted his body so he was facing me. He gently pushed me back, so I was laying down.

"I can think of a few ways." A shiver ran down my spine when he said that. His hand went to my waist while the other supported him. His whole body was on top of mine. One of my hands was on his back, the other on the back of his neck, pulling him in. There wasn't a lot of room on the couch to move. Maybe Rex felt me shifting because he stood up and picked me up. I had my legs wrapped around his waist and my arms around his neck while still kissing him. He walked us to the bedroom and the night passed blissfully.
