Chapter 5: Investigations

Lilith walked down the hallway of the manor, leaving her master to go tell Adelia what was going to happen over the next few days, maybe even weeks. However long this will last, Lilith thought it was going to be worse that hell itself. She could only dread the thought of having to work with her former 'friend' that even the thought of having to interact with him made her cringe. She hated it, the only want she currently has now is the want to get this all over with, so that she never has to interact with that crow again.

She finds her way down to the kitchen, where laughing and talking was heard from inside. Lilith knocked on the door, waiting for a response.

Adelia opened the door, eyes widening at the fact that Lilith was standing in front of her. "Lilith! What are you doing here, shouldn't you be with Lady Valeria?"

The meeting finished early, and there is something I have to tell you, at her lady's request." Adelia looked behind her at the other servants, a slight bit of nervousness showing on her face. "And what would that be?"

"Lady Valeria has asked me to tell you that we will be staying here for the time being, as there is some current unfinished business she has with Lord Phantomhive." She pauses to look at the servants watching in curiosity behind Adelia.

"When will this business be finished?"

"Unfortunately, I don't know. It could take days, maybe weeks. Until this is all figured out, then here is our home for now."

With that final sentence, Lilith walks away down the hallway, making her way back to her master as Adelia stands stunned in the doorway of the kitchen.

"Guess the young master has some serious business going on then, huh?" Finny says, still sitting at the table while Adelia comes back to her seat. "Yeah, I guess so. Well, at least we'll be able to get to know you better then, right?"

Adelia smiles at him, making him slightly red in the face. "That's right. If this drags on, then we'll have plenty of time to talk."

~The Next Day~

It hadn't taken very long before another body was discovered by another pedestrian, Scotland Yard coming to the scene first. People lined the cobblestone streets, trying to get even the slightest glimpse of the scene. It was almost blocking the entire street, with how many people there were looking into the back alley near the Thames.

The four of them walk down the street, the butler and maid trailing behind them. They move past the crowd surrounding the alleyway, making their way to the head of Scotland Yard. The head walks to them, scowling at the sight of Ciel's face.

"You again? I thought I made it clear that Scotland Yard can handle this themselves." he says, placing his hands in his pockets

Ciel takes a letter out of his pocket, looking him dead in the eyes. "I have orders from the Queen herself. She sent me to solve this case, so I will."

The man sighs angrily, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Fine then, but you won't be getting any help from up.

"That's alright by me."

With that, the four of them walk away, heading to the nearby sidewalk where they could see the waters of the Thames. They stop, Ciel looking off to stare off at the other side, looking away from everyone else.

"What are we going to do now? It's obvious that Scotland yard doesn't give a damn what we do." Valeria sighs. "How are we going to find information about any of the victims?"

"Simple, we go to a mortician. I have a friend nearby who is one, so we could go there." Lilith says, turning to face her mistress. "It would be best if we go there."

"I also know someone who is a mortician. We're most likely talking about the same person." Ciel mutters, still looking across the waters. 

"Well then, it is best we go now. We don't want to loose anymore daylight now, do we, young master?" Sebastian says, turning to face Lilith, giving her a scowl. She smirks back, a silent promise to argue later, and fix the problem now.

"Then let's go see the Undertaker."
