Chapter 13: The Ball

The next day came and went, and before they knew it, it was time for the party. Adelia and Lilith began preparing Valeria for the party, while the servants were preparing themselves. They would be leaving within the hour, so they were at the tail end of preparations. 

"Alright, that should do it, Lady Valeria." Adelia stepped away from Valeria, looking at her handiwork. She had to admit, tying that corset was nothing short of impossible, but she was somehow able to do it. "Man, I never want to tie a corset again."

"Thank you, Adelia. I appreciate you helping me put on this outfit." Valeria pushed up the corset, ensuring it helped to cover her chest. "Now we have to put on the rest of the dress."

They were done only ten minutes from when they planned to leave for the Lord's party, quickly heading for the stairs when they realized what time they had finished. They rushed down the stairs, looking over at Ciel and Sebastian, the rest of the servants standing off to the right. 

The servants were dressed to the nines as well, as they had been placed in the finest clothes provided to them. For some odd reason, the event allowed no outside servants, so they had to go undercover as nobles for the time being, mostly for Ciel and Valeria's safety.

Ciel could feel his face heat up when he took a first look at Valeria. She wore a gorgeous red dress, one made of the finest silks and fabrics from around the world. It was accented with gold, allowing him to focus on how the red complimented her emerald eyes. Her beauty could rival the queen of England herself, in his opinion.

Sebastian was near stunned when he saw Lilith walk down the staircase. She looked beautiful, he had to admit, but the way she walked in her flowing gown like she was walking on air made him feel lightheaded. He had to turn his head away, lest he be tempted anymore by his enemy. 

Finny had felt slight uncomfortable being allowed to wear such expensive clothing, but after he caught Adelia's gaze, it was hard to pay much attention to his discomfort. Her dress was green, like the leaves he sees in the garden. It reminded him of a flower, one so delicate, but so resilient at the same time. 

Ciel cleared his voice before turning away from Valeria's searing gaze. "L-let us get going. We must get there soon."

It wasn't hard to see Ciel's blushing face. 

The two masters and their servants move to the carriages outside, the masters and the head maid and butler in one, the servants in the other. Finny helped Adelia into the carriage, sitting next to her once they were ready. After that, the carriages began moving away from the manor. 

Inside Ciel's carriage, Valeria sat across from him, looking outside at the woods as it passed. Her silence made Ciel nervous, especially because of the tense atmosphere because of the two demons staring each other down. It was honestly suffocating, which is why Ciel broke the silence with something. 

"Sebastian and Lilith, there is something you must know before we get to this ball." He said.

"What is it, young master?" Sebastian responds. "Would you like us to search the manor while we are there?"

Valeria had turned away from the window, looking Ciel in the eye as he spoke.

"You know that you must go undercover, but we must make it believable." Ciel looked nervous, but hid it well and continued. "We need you two to act like husband and wife."

There was complete silence, except for the movement of the carriage and the clacking of horse hooves. Sebastian and Lilith stared wide eyed, before Sebastian leaned back in his seat and sighed. 

"If that is what I must do, then I will act. But don't expect me to enjoy having to work with this harlot." He muttered. Lilith's face scrunched in anger.

"What did you just call me, you buffoon? At least I'm not the one who seduces women and fucks them simply for information." Lilith snapped. She appeared like she was going to burn down the whole forest, including Sebastian.

"Both of you, enough. It's just for tonight, after that you may go back to despising one another." Valeria was quick to intervene, as she did not want to deal with two angry demons.

The two sighed. 

"Yes. my lord."

"Yes, my lady."
