A reservation mix up by the restaurant, a long wait outside in the freezing rain and a car breakdown on the journey was just the start of a rather unfortunate set of events that followed your date with Helena.

"That helped a little I guess." Helena tried her best to wring out her hair before joining you at the difficult to obtain table. "But, we're here now so hopefully we can just enjoy some good food and better company." She raised her half filled glass of deep red wine, you reached over to grab yours but as you raised your hand the edge knocked the rim of the glass and sent the glass hurtling to the floor. The sparkling glass shattered and sent your, fortunately white, wine splattering up her shoe.

"I am so sorry." You dove to the floor napkin in hand. "I promise I will pay for the shoes."

"It's fine, it should wash out. Can you maybe... stop touching my feet though, it's kind of weird."

"Oh." You felt your face flush a more violent crimson than her wine as you pulled yourself back up onto the seat. "I'm sorry, I just was trying to..."

"Don't worry about it, shall we just order, maybe try and start again?" You slowly nodded and enjoyed a deep breath. "Everything looks really good, do you know what you're going to get?" Her magnificent dark eyes ran up and down the menu, you found it hard to pull your gaze away from them until hers left the reams of what you thought was going to be fine gourmet dining.

"Nothing really... sounds all that good actually . I've read loads of reviews of this place and everywhere said it's worth the three month waiting list but to be honest it all looks pretty poor." You scoffed.

"Yeah." Helena agreed, peering over at the plates arriving at the tables and the less than appealing piles of food sat on top of them. "It all looks pretty bad and if I'm being honest this dates gone even worse so far. How about we head out, grab some pizza or something and head back to my place?"

"To be fair, it was probably the worst start to a date that I've ever had, there isn't much competition but the point still stands." You quickly rose from your seat. "The rats in the subway could probably make nicer food than this place."
