You had always known that Diana was desperate to kill Ares, that she wanted to make things right and destroy the god that she blamed for all the bad and damage to the world. She had such a kind heart and was desperate for justice, and they were things that made you fall in love with her. They seemed like the best attributes of her, but when she was on a boat with a strange man, heading off to who knew where, you questioned it. You knew she was doing what was right, for her and for everyone, but that didn't make it any easier to say goodbye to her. You didn't know when she would be back, you didn't know if she would be back, all you had was hope that she would.

It felt like a lifetime had passed when you saw the small boat on the horizon. No one should have been able to find Themyscira, not after the last time but you knew that no matter what barriers were put up, Diana would be able to find her way home. As soon as you saw her on the boat, you dropped what you were doing and ran down onto the beach and out into the water. You didn't care about the clothes you wore, you didn't care about the ocean water, you just cared about reaching her. As soon as she was close enough to you, you wrapped your arms around her, pulling her off of the boat and into the water with you.

You both managed to scramble up onto your feet, your clothing sinking you down as they filled with water. You cupped her cheeks in your damp hands, both of your tears combining with the salt water as you leaned in to passionately press your lips to hers. No matter the time between the last time you had seen her, your love never lessened, you had longed for this moment since the second she had been out of your sight.

Pulling away, you gave her a love drunk grin.

"I've missed you too," she chuckled, wrapping her arms around you in a loving embrace, warming you from the cool water that lapped at your waist.

"I've wanted this for so long," you admitted. "I have thought about this every single day since you left."

She gave you an apologetic smile, moving one of her hands up to caress your cheek as she continued to hold you close.

"I'm sorry that it has taken so long," she said softly. "But I killed Ares, I finally did it."

"I'm glad it is done."
