"I can't believe that the boys are going to the championship game on their first time at this tournament," I smile as us girls have claimed a picnic table to eat lunch at before the big game in about an hour. "They really came together in the fall to become the best team they could."

"Its all thanks to Joey become the captain and being stern with practices and all that," Emma says. "All those months of workouts, batting practices, and game planning really paid off. Too bad that meant you couldn't see him nearly as much," she slightly pouts. She's been wearing our school's baseball jersey that she made some modifications to in order to show off her body a bit more. "I mean, at this point, you might as well say you're taking a break."

I dip a couple French fries into my ice cream, shoving them into my mouth to give me something to do other than cry.

It is true that Joey and I have become quite distant since he decided to put his all into the baseball team, and I totally understand that he wants to make sure that it gets all his focus. At first he was able to spare a day a week to spend together, and then it went down to every other week, and eventually once a month. Now, I can't actually remember the last time that we spent alone. Our last date was with the group, and I never know if he is going to respond to my texts. I want to believe that once the season ends we can go right back to where we were, but I just don't think that will be possible. And I don't think I want it to happen.

"There's tons of hot guys here from other high schools, so maybe she can find a new guy," Stacy chuckles.

"They're still together, and that would be cheating," Katherine shakes her head. "Besides, I am sure they talked before he dove into all of this."

I look around at the girls, wishing that I could leave and not have to talk about this with them. "I mean, we kind of did when he told me that he was thinking of trying out all those months ago when we were at the skatepark. I didn't think that it would be like this, where we barely see each other, but there's nothing I can do about it now. At least it helps me see how he is when he's doing something he loves. I just get pushed to the side, and that kind of shows me that maybe we aren't as close and right for each other as we thought," I shrug.

"Are you thinking about breaking up with him?" Stacy blurts out.

"Really Stacy?" Emma slaps the girls upper arm. "Can you sound more desperate? I doubt that he thinks you're his type, so you can just forget about that."

"I don't want to date him," she grumbles. "It would just be a little drama that I want to be on top of."

"I don't know if I am breaking up with him," I quickly defend myself. "But I do know that we need to talk about what has been happening between us. We've been drifting apart, and I can't keep holding on forever. I don't want to hold out for something that might not happen. I don't want to ruin our spring break though. All of this can wait until we get back home."

"You have to put your happiness first," Katherine pats my shoulder. "If he really wants to be with you, then he is going to show you how much you mean to him when you confront him."

I nod, "That's what I keep telling myself." I look down at my food, focusing on finishing my fries while the other girls talk about some outfits they saw some girls wearing. Thankful that the conversation has left me for the moment.

"Hey, Rosalynn," Emma drags me back into the conversation about ten minutes later. "If you don't want to talk about outfits and whatnot with us, could you go get some nachos for all of us to share?"

"Oh, yeah, sure," I stand up, patting my pockets to make sure that I have everything that I'll need. "Loaded or something different?"

"No peppers," Katherine says. "But other than that I am okay with everything."
