☂️ ☂️

MY NIGHT'S SLEEP WAS SOMEWHAT terrible. The strong wind would find its way in my thin covers no matter what I did. I kept twisting and turning throughout the night trying to find the warmest position.

Suddenly, when I was facing the wall on the other side, I felt a warm hand snake around my waist and pull me closer.

"Stop moving and go to sleep," Five mumbled sleepily, his grip on my waist not loosening, not that I minded.

His body heat slowly made its way to mine. It was a few seconds before I whispered a faint "Thank you."

"No problem. Good night, Zero."

When I woke up once more, the feeling of Five's arm around my waist was still present. I didn't dare move an inch, scared that if I did, he would take it away.

I stayed there, letting my thoughts consume me as I let my eyes slowly wake up. It wasn't much long after that I heard a soft groan from behind me, letting me know that Five had woken up.

His firm grip on my waist loosened slightly once he noticed it had still been there, but he made no movement to remove it.

I turned my head slightly to look at him only for his light green eyes to be looking back at me as I greeted "Morning," with a small smile.

"Morning," He replied. I lifted his arm a little as I turned around to face him before gently letting it drop to the other side of my waist.

Neither of us are the type for small talk so instead, I gave him a warm smile which he returned with a smirk.

Five suddenly turned his head to Delores who sat at our feet. "Sorry, Delores. Good morning." He greeted her as well.

I raise a hand to my face to hide the sudden blush. I'm not sure why but for the 20 or so minutes I had been awake, I forgot she was sitting there. "Morning, D."

Delores is mute but she can still express what she wants to say when she wants to. And at the moment she is crossing her arm with a raised eyebrow. She's not much of a morning person.

I frown slightly as I feel Five's arm leave my side, but try to hide my disappointment as much as possible.

He sits up, running a hand through his hair before standing. I sit up as well, curious as to what he's doing.

Five walks down what's left of the public library's steps to where we keep our food. He crouched down and reached into a bag we had placed in the portable wagon before pulling out a can of food.

He walks back up before asking us "Does baked beans for breakfast sound good?"

Delores shrugs as I nod greedily. We go canned food hunting once or twice every two weeks depending on how much we find.

It's not that often we do find something good that hasn't expired yet, so when something like baked beans shows up, it's a definite score.

Five grabs our glasses lens we've had for a few years so that he can make a fire to warm up the food before waking away.

Once he's out of sight I lean forward and lay on my stomach as I look up at Dolores. "You see that? Progress! Right? What has it been? Fourteen days since Five and I had our last argument? And! And, he had his arm around me this morning!"

Delores shakes her head slightly as she smirks at me. Automatically I know her thoughts. "I'm not in love!" I tell her sternly.

I look over my shoulder towards the way Five went, before lowering my voice. "He's my brother... kinda. I don't want us to be like Luther and Allison's relationship. They were just-." I stop my sentence as I cringe, remembering how they would gawk at each other constantly. "They were gross, to say the least."
