I opened my eyes and my breath caught as I glanced around at the familiar sunflower field. What was he doing here? I worried for a moment that he had come here to destroy it after learning what I had done. I hoped that no matter how much he disliked me, he wouldn't sink that low.

I walked towards the treehouse, climbing the latter built into the large oak tree until I make it into the small opening on the floor. I pulled myself through the entrance, eyeing Syn sitting against the wall with a bottle of alcohol in his hands. His eyes were down at his lap, not noticing- or maybe even ignoring my presence.

I looked at the single candle lit beside him on the floor and moved to sit towards him. "Syn," I said. "Can we talk?"

He remained unmoving, nothing in his body language or eyes that seemed to acknowledge my presence at all and I swallowed a lump in my throat. "I know I'm the last person you want to speak to right now, but I need to explain what you saw."

No response yet again, he remained solid as a rock. I almost thought he may have become paralyzed in his drunken stupor, but when he took a swig of his drink, I realized he was completely here. He just didn't want to talk to me. I could understand that. I would've acted the same way.

We sat in the uncomfortable quiet, the birds in the distance making more noise than we were and I let out a nervous breath. His quietness terrified me. "Do you want me to wait? I'll wait as long as you need me to..." Quiet. I reached out to pay his shoulder to get his attention and he grabbed my wrist, slowly bringing his eyes to mine.

"Never touch me again," he snapped. I winced at the sharp grip he had on my arm and his eyes shot lasers into my own. There was nothing comforting in his green eyes, just anger. Maybe even hatred. But we both knew it wasn't solely hatred, it couldn't be. Otherwise the location spell wouldn't have worked.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. He let go of my arm and I rubbed the aching spot that he didn't care to hold back his strength on. He was drunk, and I shouldn't have been poking the beast in him. I had a feeling he wouldn't hold back tearing me to shreds. "I'll leave you." I'd have to come see him another day when liquor wasn't clouding his actions or judgment.

I began to go back towards the hatch to leave, but Syn grabbed me, roughly pushing me to the floor. I winced as my head hit the hardwood floor, and his hand snaked around my neck, squeezing as I struggled to breathe. "Syn," I croaked out, trying to remove myself from his grasp. "...please-"

"I want to fucking kill you," he growled. "People have lied to me for less and they paid for it with their lives. You deserve the same." I struggled to breathe, my eyes closing as my head throbbed...when he suddenly let go. I gasped, taking a large breath as I looked up at him his blank stare was trained on me, his eyes still full of the same disdain. "I hate you," he said. "I really mean it. I want you gone, and I regret ever meeting you. If I could go back and change things, I'd do it in a heartbeat."
