Chapter 8 - Doesn't know I exist

The night of the party

"Hey are you sure you don't want to come to the party?" Daniel asked his twin sister while taking a seat on her bed where she laid staring at the ceiling.

"No. I'm good. You know I don't like them." She replied with a small smile.

"Are you sure? It can't be that bad." He said still trying to persuade her.

"Daniel..." She said while giving him a 'don't push it' look.

"Okay! Okay! Well I'm leaving now. Call me if anything comes up. I'll be there." He said while patting her knee before leaving her room.

Following him they walked to the door. With one last glance and 'I love you' exchanged between the two, she shut the door locking it properly before returning to her room.

'Hey! I'm calling you! Answer the phone!'

Went her ringtone indicating that either Daniel or Jacob - Daniel's best friend - was calling. Yup he recorded himself just for that. Not bothering to check who was calling, she answered.

"Hey. What's up?"

"Hey. It's Jacob. Your brother's too tired to drive and I'm at work at the moment. Can you pick him up?"

"Thanks for calling me. And yeah I will go get him."

"Yeah, no problem and he's my brother as much as he is yours. Call me or text me when y'all get home okay?"

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye."

Sighing she got up not bothering to change. Grabbing her keyring consisting of all the keys she needed on a daily basis she made her way out the door locking it behind her.

Arriving at the party she began her search for Daniel, pushing people and being pushed into people.

Bumping into someone, she was about to say sorry but her breath was caught in her throat.

Standing in front of her was none other than Liam Smith. Damn he's hot she thought as she continued staring for a few seconds before catching herself and turning away quickly.

"Hey what's wrong? Why did you leave?" She heard him ask the girl directly behind her.

"Umm I have a curfew and I'm already late. Call me?" The girl said before leaving.

Of course he has someone. He's a fine specimen. She thought as she shook her head walking away to find her brother.

Soon enough she found Daniel lying on one of the couches. Waking him she led him outside towards her car. However Daniel had to stop several times to say goodbye to almost everyone while she continued walking ahead, turning now and then to keep an eye on Daniel.

Turning once more she saw someone watching from the side gate which led to the backyard.

She took a sharp breath when realization dawned on her.

It's Liam Smith. Is he watching me? She thought once again turning away from his burning gaze.

After Daniel got into the car he fell asleep immediately, leaving her with her thoughts.

Upon arriving home she sent a quick text to Jacob before diving under her blanket but not before ensuring Daniel was safely tucked in.

Taking deep breaths to calm herself she allowed her thoughts to consume her.

It was Liam Smith at the gate. Was he staring at me?

She shook her head slightly at that thought.

No, he couldn't have been. He was most likely looking for someone else. He probably doesn't know I exist.

Sighing she pulled her blanket closer to her before falling in a dreamless sleep.
