Sighing he ran his hands through his hair before making his way downstairs.
Following the sound of voices he peeked into the kitchen and was greeted with the sight of his mom talking with Melanie.
"I didn't know y'all were back."
"Oh you didn't? I thought Liam would have told you. My family and I returned sometime last week." She answered with fake politeness and an equally fake smile.
Clenching his jaw he took a deep breath before entering.
"Oh hey babe!" she said enthusiastically as she sprung up from her seat to approach him.
"Babe?" his mom questioned.
"We'll be outside mom." He replied before turning and walking out.
"Why outside? Can't we go to your room?" she asked with a slight pout.
Ignoring her, he made his way through the lilac halls that were lined with pictures holding so many memories and towards the backdoor.
Realizing he wasn't going to answer she stayed quiet as she followed behind.
Sliding the glass door he continued down the stairs before walking to the middle of the backyard.
"Do we have to come all the way here?" she asked with an eye roll.
Taking a deep breath he turned towards her with tears glistening in his eyes and trembling lips.
"Oh Liam!" she whispered as she threw herself at him embracing him to which he immediately responded.
"I missed you. I missed you so much." He mumbled as he hugged her tightly.
"I missed you too. I'm sorry Liam. I'm truly sorry."
In the blink of an eye Liam pushed her away as he felt the familiar feeling of his heart being squeezed.
"You're sorry?" he scoffed while shaking his head.
"Liam."
"You're sorry." He said with a humorless laugh.
"Of course you're sorry! Do tell, why are you sorry? Are you sorry for cheating on me or for being caught? Or perhaps for almost KILLING MY SISTER!" he roared angrily while flashes of the past he tried to forget resurfaced.
"I wasn't thinking straight Liam; I'm sorry. I just needed you. I need you. You belong with me; and I with you. We're meant to be. They took me away for a year but I'm here now. We can be happy together," She cried.
"Don't you want to be happy Liam?"
"You needed me?" he scoffed.
"When did you realize you did, huh? After I caught you with the guy? Or when you decided to take a joyride with Leanne while under the influence? Or perhaps when you woke up in the hospital while my sister FOUGHT FOR HER LIFE?!" he yelled.
"I love you Liam! Can we please work this out? I'm sorry for what I did. It's in the past anyway; she's okay so just move on. So what do you say, do you want to give us another shot?"
"I..."
'Just stop your crying
it's a sign of the times.'
"Hello?"
"HE'S IN THE HOSPITAL!" Someone yelled through the phone.
"What? Where? I'm coming." He said quickly already running off towards the side gate.
"Liam!" Melanie yelled as he left her crying in the middle of his backyard.

*Hides behind the wall and shouts*
HEY! DIDN'T EXPECT THAT, DID YOU?

*coughs* I should stop shouting.
