His question bought back the memories of that night. You holding the knife to his throat. His desperation. The fear but acceptance of death in his eyes. You tried to blink away the emotion in your eyes, but you knew he had already seen it. He didn't acknowledge it, but just continued to give you a quizzical look, like he was trying to find the answer in your face.
"Because.... you were different."
"...different? How?"
You ran over the pros and cons of telling him in your head. You soon decided to throw that system out the window and you let out a sigh.
"I would receive letters slipped under my door at random. Fancy paper, swirling handwriting, and they would only have one name. It was usually accompanied by a reward or incentive. A small bag of fresh fruit, candy, something I could sell for some extra coin.
All the names were common thieves. People that no one would notice going missing. Easy kills, no fuss no mess. And then I received your name, along with a large bag of coins. How could I refuse? But I couldn't quite kill you. It took me all day to finally approach you. And as I was about to do it, you looked right into my eyes, and suddenly I was back in my dads home, watching, frozen as my mother's life trickled away because of my father.
The fear, was what was predominant in your eyes like hers, but more importantly was the acceptance. That you were going to die that day and that wasn't entirely a bad thing. And I just couldn't.
I'd always accepted that any day could be my last. Even after I managed to escape my father. I did whatever it took to survive. But you are the first thing I couldn't do."
Harry's eyes were quizzical. You couldn't quite read him, and couldn't be bothered to try and think of what was going through his head.
He turned around and started walking out the room. He hesitated at the door, as if to tell you something, before continuing on his way.
The silence he left behind was deafening. No occasional footsteps passing by, no cheers from the crew upstairs. You could barely hear any creaks from the boat or waves from the unusually calm sea.
It was an hour until you heard 2 lots of footsteps coming down the hallway. Through the door walks Uma and then Harry. Harry walks behind you and cuts the ropes to free you from the chair while continuing a conversation with Uma.
"There's one next to you which might be good? Harder to make a run for it, which I don't think they will but still."
"What about the crew? They know what they did, they helped us look for them."
"I'll say it's a training drill, and that I used our newest recruit so they wouldn't know who it was and it wouldn't be fake. Easy."
"If you say so."
After he finished releasing you, he followed Uma back through the door, leaving you stranded, bewildered in the middle of the room.
"Well are you coming?" You glanced up to see Harry's head popped around the door, before it disappeared again. You jogged out the room and down the hallway to catch up with them.
"I'm sorry what's happening?"
They walk to one of the doors in the middle of the corridor and hold it open. Inside you see a small, cozy room with a decent bed, desk and small wardrobe.
"Here is your room. Harry's is two doors down and mine is the one right at the end. Breakfast is generally from 7-8 but obviously the earlier you are there, the better food you get. Training is after lunch on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. I'm usually working at my mums fish and chips so you can find me there for orders or a chat. Any questions?"
"Uh yes, what's happening?"
Uma glances at Harry.
"Welcome to the crew y/n." Harry gives you a pay on the back.
"It's getting fairly late so we will leave you to get settled in. You can go grab your stuff from your house now or in the morning, whatever's easiest. Just let me know so we know when to expect you back and can send people out incase your in trouble."
You give Uma a silent nod.
"Alright, night."
And with a swish of her hair Uma is already halfway down the hallway. You turn to Harry and open your mouth to speak, but he answers first.
"Because I ended up here in a similar way. Obviously I wasn't out assassinating people but I was using my talents for useless things because of my... father. Uma saved me from inevitably ruining myself. And I saw myself in you. I had to give you a chance, like Uma gave me a chance."
Something shifted in you, and for the first time in your life you felt safe. You felt like you were right where you belonged.
Unbeknownst to you, Harry could see the tension in your shoulders and your face loosen, and he knew that he had done the right thing.________________________________

Harry's POV
The person standing before me know is very different from the one that was tied to a chair so many years ago.
They still have the same beautiful eyes, with the same glint of 'I'm safe', that's been there since I showed them to their room and they joined the crew. Their skin glows in the sunlight of Auradon, but the scar on their hand reminds me of our time on the Isle.
Their hands are warm like their smile, providing a harsh contrast to the cold ring on their left hand that was placed there moments ago.
I know everyone's watching, Uma, the crew, my sisters, but I only see them. My heart overflows with love. And as they lean in for the kiss to seal our fate, I have to look away because I can't bare to see the love of my life dedicate hers to someone else.
