The Choice

Tommy and Scarlett woke up the next morning. She was on her back and he laid between her legs with his head on her bare stomach and his hands on her sides. Scarlett had her hand in his hair and the other petting ash, who was right beside her.
          "Do you think Ash knows I'm pregnant?"
          "He could sense that you were different when you were pregnant with Myles, so maybe."
          "He was even more protective of me then."
          "Yeah...I couldn't touch you without getting growled at." Tommy said.
Scarlett smiled and rubbed Ash's head. He licked her face and then moved down the bed and nuzzled his head on her stomach, right next to Tommy's.
          "And now he's trying to suffocate me." Tommy mumbled.
Scarlett laughed, but their moment was ruined by Ada busting through their door. She was yelling and Bonnie was right behind her...trying to catch her.
          "Tommy Shelby you fucking prick!"
          "Good morning to you too, Ada."
Ada started yelling at him, but no one could understand because she was talking so fast. She stopped and smiled at Scarlett because she wasn't mad at her.
          "Good morning, Scarlett."
          "Ada." Scarlett smiled and nodded.
Ada went back to yelling at Tommy.
          "Ada, shhh. My baby can hear every word you're saying." He said sarcastically.
She hit him over the head with her purse. Scarlett held in a laugh as she quickly grabbed Ash's collar.
          "Ash." She whispered.
He got up and sat right beside her. Tommy eventually got off Scarlett and stood up. She pulled her shirt down and sat up.
          "Now why did you come in here and ruin my morning?" He asked.
Scarlett moved over on the bed and Bonnie sat on the other side of Ash. They both knew it would be a sibling showdown between Tommy and Ada. They were both petting Ash.
          "So are you excited about being a father?"
          "Yes!" He half yelled so Scarlett could hear.
They turned back to Tommy and Ada.
          "You exiled Polly? She's our fucking aunt, Tom."
          "I didn't exile her. I exiled her son."
Ada started to say something, but Tommy cut her off.
          "Don't even try to defend him. He made us think Scarlett had cancer for over two months and then he was planning on killing her. I should've killed him when I had the chance, but I couldn't because my own aunt fucking shot me!" He yelled.
          "I tried to explain that to her." Bonnie whispered.
Scarlett gave a small laugh.
          "Polly is leaving. She's walking away from the business and she's never coming back." Ada yelled.
          "Well that's her own choice. I never said she had to leave. Actually..."
          "Oh no...he's going to do it." Scarlett whispered to Bonnie.
          "Actually Scarlett and I are leaving, so if that helps her stay." Tommy said.
Ada had a surprised look on her face.
          "You're leaving? Where the fuck are you going?"
          "Back to fucking Italy. Where my own fucking family can't put my wife in fucking danger!" He yelled.
Myles started to cry and then Bella stood at the door.
          "Mommy." She said.
Ada and Tommy both saw her there and their faces just dropped. Scarlett got to her and picked her up.
          "Why are they yelling?"
          "Him and aunt Ada are just arguing. It's nothing. Just brother and sister stuff."
          "Will Myles ever yell at me like that?"
          "No...no...absolutely not."
She sat Bella down and then picked a crying Myles up. Scarlett sat in the chair and then Bella crawled in her lap.
          "I would never yell at him." Bella said as she touched Myles' hand.
Scarlett smiled. She was so happy that Bella was starting to really take the role of being a big sister.
Tommy and Ada had quieted down after they woke the kids up.
          "We were planning on telling everyone, but things got in the way. We are happy there. The kids love it." Tommy said.
          "And what about the business?" Ada asked.
          "We have business there and so does Scarlett, but it's all legitimate. It's safe in Italy. Nothing good happens here anymore...it's just dangerous."
Ada didn't say anything because Tommy was right.
          "You could move with us. Buy a house down the street. The boxing scene is huge in Italy right now." He said as he looked at Bonnie.
          "It's true." Bonnie said.
          "Tommy, I—"
          "Just think about it. I'm going to propose this to everyone. Family meeting at five in the Garrison."
Ada looked at him.
          "Just think about it, Ada."
She nodded and then the two left. Tommy walked into Myles' room and Bella ran to him. Him and Scarlett shared a look.
          "Family meeting at five." He said.
          "Do I have to go?"
He made a weird face at her.
          "You remember how they all attacked me when they thought we were moving to New York...how do you think they'll act towards me now that we are actually moving?"
          "They will act that way towards me because it was my idea." He said.
          "We'll see." She said as she walked out with Myles.
The day went on and it was time for Scarlett and Tommy to leave for the Garrison.
          "I don't think I'll be able to look at Arthur when we tell him." She said.
They walked in and everyone was already there. Polly was just looking down. Tommy held Scarlett's hand as she sat in a chair at the bar. He talked for a bit and then just ripped the bandage off.
          "Scarlett and I are moving to Italy. We both have business there and our children love being there. You will all be taken care of for the rest of your lives and anyone is more than welcome to come with us. You will have housing and a job that is completely legal. The business here will still operate like normal."
Everyone looked at him. Polly's head shot up and looked at Scarlett.
          "And before anyone blames Scarlett...this was all my idea. I want to move there. Too much has happened here to me and my family. Too many people have died. We need a fresh start."
Scarlett looked at Arthur just looking down. Tommy cleared his throat.
          "You all are great people and hard workers. Whatever you decide is good with me. As long as everyone's happy. I'd like to know your decisions by this time tomorrow."
They nodded and then everyone that wasn't family, left.
          "We're a family, Tom. Moving away will tear us apart." Arthur mumbled.
          "Conspiring and shooting our own family members is what's tearing us apart. We are leaving so none of that happens anymore."
Polly scoffed and Arthur just looked at Tommy because he was right.
          "At least think about it, brother. We are leaving as soon as we can because we want to get settled before this new baby comes."
          "You really think this is what's best for you?" Arthur asked.
Tommy nodded.
          "I do. Birmingham isn't safe anymore and we are so happy in Italy. It's a new beginning for us."
Arthur nodded and just walked out. They knew it would hurt him the most.
          "And what about me?" Polly mumbled.
          "You can keep your position in the company and you can leave if you'd like. I just don't want to see you for a few months." Tommy said.
Polly nodded. Tommy and Scarlett left everyone to think about this choice they had. The two were naked in bed as Tommy ran his hand down her arm.
          "It went better than I thought." She said.
          "Mhm." He said and then kissed her neck.
          "I wonder who will go and who will stay." She added.
          "I guess we will find out tomorrow."
