~~~I'm so sorry this chapter is bad. I'm not happy, but the writers block is bad and I haven't updated in a few days. Anyway...I hope you guys enjoy! Much love.🖤~~~
Tommy got Scarlett upstairs and took her to the bathroom. He ran her a hot bubble bath and then helped her wash the blood off of her hands in the sink. She was completely gone. She wasn't moving or talking. Scarlett was in complete shock. Tommy left her for one minute as he carried Bella to her room. He came back and her bath was ready.
"Scarlett, do you want to get in the bathtub?"
She didn't say a word. She didn't even move a muscle. Tommy walked over and put his hands on her waist.
"I'm going to take your dress off so you can get in, okay? You're safe. You're safe with me."
He unzipped her dress and then helped her completely undress. Tommy helped her get in the tub and he started to walk out, so she could have a minute. She grabbed his hand and stopped him. They made eye contact.
"Don't leave." She said quietly.
"Okay."
He grabbed a stool and sat beside the tub.
"You can get in if you want." She said.
"Are you sure?"
She nodded and then he took off his clothes and got in. He wrapped his arms around her as her back was against his chest.
"I could've stopped him. I could've pulled the gun out of his hand."
"And he could've accidentally shot you. No one could stop him. He made his mind up and the only person that could've stopped him..."
"Was Chelsea." She answered.
"No, he's the only one who could've stopped himself from doing it. Him, Scarlett."
She took a deep breath because she knew he was right. She leaned her head back on him.
"When does it end, Tommy?"
"I don't know, baby....I don't know."
He kissed her cheek. Eventually they got out and got in bed. Scarlett couldn't find her favorite t-shirt of Tommy's that she wore every night and she was getting frustrated.
"Where is it? Where the fuck is it?"
"What? Where is what?"
"My t-shirt....your t-shirt. The one I sleep in every night."
"It's okay. I have a whole drawer full of them." He said as he pulled another one out and gave it to her.
"It's not the same. That one was my favorite." She said as she put the new one on. She put her hands to her head.
"It's just my...I just....I."
Tommy hugged her.
"We will find it tomorrow. I promise."
She got in bed and snuggled up next to Tommy.
"Thank you, Tommy."
"For what?"
"For being you....for being my safe place. I know it's not easy. I know I'm really leaning on you."
"That's what I'm here for. Lean on me, lay on me, push me...you can do whatever you want to me."
Scarlett kissed his jaw and he held her tightly.
They fell asleep, but woke up from Scarlett having a nightmare. She shot up and grabbed at her throat as she coughed. Tommy sat up and calmed her down.
"Scar, it was just a nightmare. You're home..you're safe."
She held her throat and then cleared it. Scarlett told Tommy about how they almost drowned her in ice water multiple times. He comforted her and then they heard Bella crying, so they went into her room. Scarlett and Tommy sat on each side of her bed. Bella looked up at Scarlett.
"I heard you screaming, mommy."
Scarlett wiped Bella's tears.
"I just had a nightmare. I'm okay."
"You have nightmares too?"
Scarlett nodded.
"Mhm...daddy does too. We all have them."
Bella looked at Tommy and he nodded. She crawled into Scarlett's lap and hugged her.
"Do you want to sleep with us tonight?" She asked.
Bella nodded.
"Oh no. I don't think I can share my bed with both of you." Tommy joked.
"You can sleep in here." Bella said innocently.
Scarlett smiled and then laughed.
"Maybe I will." Tommy said and then laid down on her bed.
Scarlett whispered to Bella and Bella moved next to Tommy.
"You can sleep in your bed."
"Thanks for the permission, Bella."
She stood up.
"Come on, daddy."
Bella got Scarlett to carry her and Tommy's pillow. As Scarlett carried her out, Bella yelled.
"Daddy, get my teddy please."
Tommy looked around and then smiled once he saw her teddy bear. Bella had put Tommy's t-shirt on it. He got back in the room and got in the bed.
"I found the shirt." He said as he handed Bella her bear.
"Teddy likes to wear it."
Scarlett gave a small smile. She had her back against Tommy as he had his arm around her. Bella was on Tommy's pillow as she looked at them. Ash walked up the bed and put his head right in between Bella and Scarlett. Scarlett forgot about everything for a few minutes as she enjoyed her time, but the next day came and so did reality. Scarlett fed Myles and then walked downstairs with him. He was becoming more and more attached to her. She sat down at the table with her uncles and Tommy. Myles rested his head on Scarlett's shoulder. It put her at ease just for a few seconds. She zoned out as the uncles started talking about the funeral arrangements for Kane and Chelsea.
"Scarlett. Scarlett." Tony said.
She snapped out of it and looked at them.
"Are you with us, kid?" Carmine asked.
"Yeah...yeah I am."
"Well then, what did I just say?" Tony quizzed.
"You just said what did I just say." She smarted off.
Carmine laughed.
"Smart ass." Tony said.
"So did you like our plan?" Carmine asked.
She stared at him because they knew she wasn't listening.
"All I know is that they'd want to be side by side. We do a joint ceremony because that's who they were. He wasn't himself without her and she wasn't herself without him." Scarlett said.
"Kane was in the war, so..." Tony started.
Scarlett shook her head.
"No. He always told me he never wanted to be remembered for what he did in the war. No soldier funeral."
They both nodded.
"So we will leave for New York tomorrow." Carmine said.
Scarlett wanted to go home, but couldn't think about going home without Kane and Chelsea.
"Alright." Tommy nodded.
"You ready to go home, kid?" Carmine asked.
"I'm ready to go home, but I'm not ready to go home to two funerals." She said and then walked away.
Scarlett took Myles out to the stables. Bella was on Bear during her riding lesson. They stood and watched. Bella waved and Scarlett waved back.
"Look, there's sissy." She said sweetly.
She walked into the stables and over to Bandit's stall. Scarlett rubbed his nose and Myles smiled. She talked to him and he stuck out his little hand and rubbed Bandit's nose as he made a cute baby noise.
Tommy walked in and Myles looked his way.
"Da-da."
"There's my boy."
He reached his arms out for Tommy and he took him. Scarlett and Tommy rubbed Bandit's nose. Scarlett put on a mask in front of the kids, but Tommy could see right through it. He knew she wasn't okay.
"He's not scared of him." Scarlett said.
"He's a Shelby man. We aren't scared of horses."
Scarlett shook her head and then Myles reached out his hand to pet Bandit.
"You never told me Kane was in the war."
"After my father found out that I enlisted, he freaked out. He was so mad at me and so was Kane. The day came to ship out and Kane walked on the boat with me and said, "you really think I'd let you go to war without me?"."
"He enlisted because I did. He went to make sure I came back and I never thanked him enough for that."
