Run For It- Chapter 12
How do you not know who barbie is?
We had packed up our stuff, and were now on our way. Bringing our weapons, me twin blades and Fox a bow and arrows but he had also brought some daggers, for closer combat
"So, how come you haven't been over this moutain before?" I asked as we trudged along.
"Like I said, the tribe considered it cursed. And, I never have the time to, anyway."
"Oh. So, you never try to explore places? Won't it help with your 'tribal training', or what not?" I questioned.
"It's out of bounds. And I haven't had time to go explore."
"What do you mean you don't have time to explore. You're in a tribe for god's sake, what do you do all day?" I asumed that he just sat around his hut, maybe practiced his archery, maybe caught some fish. Not something that would keep you busy all day.
"Argue with my dad, about not wanting to marry the 'most beautiful woman in the tribe'. Note the sarcasam. For once, I would actually like to have a say in something involving me. I mean, it is my own frickin' life! You know sometimes, I think that I should just leave, and see how he likes that."
"Ah, parent trouble. That's a toughie. Who is this 'beautiful woman', as you call her. And why do you have to marry her? This is a free country, remember."
"Beleive me, she is not the most beautiful woman I have ever met. If anything she is is a stubborn, stuck-up-"
"Barbie doll?" I offered.
"What?" He asked, looking weired out. Had he really never heard of a Barbie doll before. Oh- that's right- he lived in a tribe. Of course he's heard of a Barbie doll.
"It's this animated TV character, that is spoilt, stuck-up, and completly clueless to the world around her. It's just: me this, and me that! Jeeze, doesn't she get sick of her self?" I realized that I was ranting on about some animated character, to someone who has never even seen a TV before. Yeah, he's gonna understand.
"Sorry, I'm rambling. I tend to that quite a lot." I apologised.
"No need to apologise. I'm just as sick of her as you seem to be Barley darl."
"It's- never mind." He wouldn't understand, anyway.
"Yeah, she's still annoying. And now I have to marry her. Gods I hate my life." He groaned, and face planted in his hands.
"Don't worry. It will get better, since I'm here now.Life always get's better when I'm in it." I replied confidently. I was only telling the truth!
"Yeah, you're so modest." He responded. A smirk appeared on my face, and I stopped walking. He stopped to and looked at me, puzzled.
"What?" He inquired.
"We're going to go visit your tribe."
~~~
"Come on! This is a bad idea. I haven't even told them about you, or the fire, or us alomst going to Mount Eutopia. Please Artemisia!"
"No, I'm going to convince your father, and the rest of your tribe, to not make this horrible mistake. Your only fifteen, you can't get married! You must have some crazy parents." I muttered the last part to myself, and luckily he didn't hear.
