she looked over to george, and he gave her a reassuring nod. she looked back up, and sighed. here we go.
mavis and dream walked out farther from the group, so they couldn't hear, "sooo what do you wanna talk about?" she said, dragging the 'o'. she looked anywhere, anywhere that wasn't him. mavis ignored eye contact, but he didn't accept it.
he grabbed her chin and pulled it towards him, in one swift, and gentle movement. now, they were finally looking at each other. "look, i don't want this." he took a deep breath, "i don't want this like- tension between us. i hate it so much, and i miss you. you've just been hanging out with the other guys, i want you to myself. you're finally back in florida, and we haven't done much together yet." he rambled.
she almost blushed at his words, but it was hard. the fact that he never liked her back was dented in her brain. he was saying all these words, but it really didn't mean anything to her, she just wanted him to tell her he liked her back.
"i miss you too, and i'm sorry that my feelings got in the way of this— luckily i'm over it." her lie pierced through him. he wanted to say it was okay, but we all knew it wasn't. it was all his fault.
"i promise i'll hang out with you more, i'm sorry for all this tension." mavis said genuinely, giving him a hug. he was zoned out, but as her arms wrapped around his torso, he was brought back, and returned the hug by bringing his arms around her. she felt safe in his presence. though it had only been a day, they missed each other. he rested his chin on her head, "should we go back now?" she muffled into his chest.
"not yet, i just want to stay here." he spoke truthfully. mavis' smiled, "but we'll hang out later, i want to watch the sunset with the other guys." mavis said. "not yet please, i don't want to share." he mumbled.

the two eventually came back, watching the sunset with the rest of them. mavis sat in the middle of george and dream. george leaned down to her ear, "what did he say?" he whispered. she could feel dream's eyes on them, "nothing." she gave him an assuring smile. he returned the smile.
"hey guys wanna go near shore?" nick asked. they gave in, and followed him. mavis dragged her feet along the sand before feeling water splash against her. she looked up to see quackity giggling. "ALEX!!" she laughed, kicking some water over to him.
what seemed to be a playful fight changed quickly. everybody was soaked, "YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!" quackity yelled, causing everybody to break into fits of laughter. mavis felt arms around her waist, and in one swift motion, she was lifted into the air, bridal style. the girl looked over to see his green eyes already looking at her, "hey!!" she giggled.
he spun her around, smiles glued to their faces.
night was slowly taking over the sky, the stars seemed brighter than normal to mavis and dream. they felt like that whenever they were near each other.
