"How do I love, how do I love again? How do I trust, how do I trust again?"
-Dancing With Your Ghost

1944, Blue Ridge Mountains, VA

"What are you? Part mountain goat?"

She stood at the base is the cliff as he looked out upon the breathtaking view of the mountain valley, standing on top of the ledge in a conquering stance, like he was the king of the world.

She grinned. "Are you gonna help me Desmond Crawford? Or are you just gonna leave me stranded?"

His triumphant smirk turned into a sweet smile as he looked down at her, he chuckled to himself before hopping down and coming to help.

"I'll help you." He said with his southern drawl accent, peering over the tiny cliff to where their faces were no more than a meter apart.

He smiled again.

"But it's gonna cost you."

"What?" She asked, now hesitant of whether grabbing onto his hand was a good idea.

"A kiss."

She laughed and looked down at her feet, feeling her cheeks turning bright red. She looked back up at him and tried to hide her smile.

"That is pure blackmail."

"Well, yes ma'am it is." He said. "But that is still my condition."

She tilted her head and looked at him kindly, thinking to herself that he was the sweetest man she had ever met. Her thoughts were consumed by him always.

She grabbed onto his other hand and he pulled her up.

"Now I'm gonna hold you to it." He smiled as they kept on hiking the mountain.

Once they got to the top, she marveled at the pretty view he was looking at before. He held her hands close to his body, and looked at her.

She looked at his lips, then back up into his eyes.

And leaned forward...

"Hold on now."

She scoffed jokingly and leaned back.

He looked at her and raised his eyebrows, but his smile still remained on his face. He could never frown at her. She was too precious.

"You ain't gonna slap me like on our first date, are ya?" He teased. "Cause ill fall off and I'll take you with me."

She bit her lip and looked into his eyes.

"Kiss me and find out."

He smiled and leaned forward, planting a soft kiss on her lips that lingered for a long moment.

She smiled as he pulled away.

"I love you Desmond."
