you never noticed?

you told her you loved me, yet as her parents you never knew how difficult she was struggling. how she wanted to become the beauty standards. how she didn't want to look in the mirror and just see disgust. she just wanted you to notice, someone to notice. yet you ask why she's always up in her room.

you still never noticed, huh?

you never noticed why she was dropping weight so fast. between sports and eating barley two meals at most. you still never noticed. you never noticed the dizziness, the less eating, severe weight loss, or the monstrous thoughts floating in her head. you were all acting as if it were normal. yet, all she ever wanted to do was be normal, skinny, happy. but she wasn't. she's the lost, broken girl who has family problems in every direction, and she can't do anything about it.

everywhere she looks she sees the broken girl. it hurts. it hurts so much that you wouldn't even be able to tell she was depressed. she's hidden it for so long now that nobody can see it. i mean once in a while by her friends she might get asked but you. you never asked. all she wanted was for you to be her parents, her family, the people that are supposed to care and love her. but she realized the only way you'll finally care and live me is when she's swallowed those pills, laying on the tile floor, with pale, cold skin.

she doesn't live for you anymore. she lives for herself, her future, and her future children. in the end she just wanted her parents back. but social media and her siblings took over your role of caring.
