You don't really remember much that day you got the news. You only remember one thing, and that was darkness.
At first you laughed at it, like it's a stupid prank. You waited for him to appear out of the bushes,or swinging from the trees' branches and go "Boo!" and you'd smack him for making you cry. But when you saw your parents standing beside a large ambulance across you, with their arms folded and their faces crossed, you knew it was the end.
You tasted bitterness at the tip of your tongue, and you cursed at the sky for taking the one thing you loved most. You cursed at him, for giving you empty promises, for giving you high hopes. This one hurt bad, and it was different from your last because, there was absolutely nothing you hated about him. No matter how deep you reached in your mind, he was you rose-colored boy, in an oversized hoodie, ready to embrace you with the biggest smile on his face. This one hurt, because you truly set your future, your dreams, dedicated to him. And he left you, dancing with his ghost.
He was all you've got, and he kept his secret from you. And you despise him for that.

You stayed outside his hospital room, hands on your face, your knees pushed into your chest. You haven't slept since. You don't think you ever will. You helped signed his papers for him, because you just found out that he hasn't had any contact with his parents for years now. Again, the bitterness enters your soul, a stab in the heart. He didn't tell me all this, why didn't he tell me? Mr Gojo arrived an hour after, in his school clothes, his usual sunglasses out of sight. When he heard the doctor break the news, he crumbled down. It was the first time you've seen Mr Gojo look so defeated. He's always the cool teacher with extended deadlines, who's crushed on by girls, who's always never angry at the students with anger issues. He handles things well, and it's disturbing seeing him so...distraught.
You try to re encounter the moments you last had with him, his face under the moonlight, how he piggybacked you all the way to the shelter. To think, that you'll never be held by him again haunts you. Stupid, stupid Itadori, you think.
Soon enough, you see Nobara appear, in her large beige coat and striped top. For once her perfectly kept hair is in a mess, her eyebags are terrible. Megumi catches sight of her, and when they meet, they hug. Nobara can't stop wailing, her voice echoing through the hallways. She's been crying for hours now, and Megumi has to take her outside.
Soon another woman, taller than Nobara, appears, with dark emerald hair and she's wearing spectacles. Her face shows no emotion, and she walks with pride. She notices you on the ground. She comes over to you, introduces herself as 'Itadori's senior' and asks you where Nobara last went. So you showed her.
3.45pm
"Y/n." you open your eyes after being shaken awake. It's Junpei, with his long hair covering one of his eyes. "Hey." is all you say to him. But Junpei doesn't mind, he sits next to you, giving you company. He, too, has dark circles under his eyes, but he plays it cool, trying to calm you down with his words. "He told me not to tell you." he says. "He said he'll kill me if I do."
But you don't listen. You still feel his presence, by your side, doing something stupid like picking his ear. You snicker, imagining him dancing to Drake. "Come on! Dance with me!" he'd say, signalling over to you. Why didn't I dance with you sooner? Guilt. Guilt is all that's left in you, the only thing you feel. The things you could've done, the chances you should've taken, the places you two could go. If only he told you. You shift to the side, and realize Junpei has been sleeping next to you, you can tell by his half-opened eyes. His right eye is no longer hidden by his hair, and you can see the bumps on his skin. "What..is that?" your voice is hoarse. Junpei notices your hand trying to touch it, but he catches you, and you interlock eyes for a quick second, before you pull away. "Fine, don't tell me. That's what ya'll do." you say bitterly, staring at the floor. Junpei sighs. "I'll tell you soon, don't worry." You look around in the darkened room, and you notice the crowd of teachers gathered in front of his ward, his empty bed just...sitting there, stagnant. Mr Gojo has his hand on Mr Nanami's back, Mr Toji already dressed in black, his black hair slicked back to make it look like a mini mullet. Miss MeiMei is there, too.
