A Dark Deception

Muddled Memories

Mikey awoke feeling agitated he had still not remembered anything but was disturbed by what he was told yesterday not even sure where he belonged, he was grateful The Shredder has offered him refuge otherwise he didn't know where he would have to go or call his home right now. 

All he knew was he had a former Sensei that was a human sized Rat and some turtle brothers who all apparently wanted him dead he felt alone and unsure if The Shredder was truly trustworthy but what choice did he have that to hope for the best. 

Karai came in, Mikey felt most comfortable with her than anybody, though he wasn't sure why. She carried a plate of food for Mikey which he was most grateful for, "Eat up and come and join us for for sparring if you feel well enough" Karai told him, Mikey nodded and ate quickly and quietly before following her into the training room.

When he arrived he was presented with a black mask, and a choice of weapons, somehow when he saw a pair of  Nunchucks he instantly knew they were 'his' weapons and instinctively knew how to fight with them. As he chose them, Shredder explained to him he would be sparring against some Foot Bots as his sparring went underway he was doing great and dealt with them easily, so Shredder brought in the tougher red ones and these proved more of a challenge.

Mikey was soon knocked down hard and upon landing feeling a surge of pain in his back he suffered a flashback, in which : 

he was fighting with Raph in a sparring session, he became distracted and Raph flipped him over his head landing hard on his back, as he lay wincing in pain, Raph stood over him telling him he was a useless fighter and begged Splinter to let him spar with someone that would give him a real challenge. His rat Sensei showed little sympathy & ushered Leo into fight with him instead and Splinter gave Mikey a lecture on his inability to focus.

Mikey shook his head, it convinced him he had in fact been told the truth, his family really didn't want him, and didn't rate him as a ninja him either it seems & it gave him the determination to prove himself to Shredder so he could win acceptance and stay here. 

He leaped up and gave the bot he was sparring with a great fight, until Shredder stopped him, "Michelangelo you did well, we'll leave it there as you are still recovering" he told him, showing kindness which was steep a contrast to his memory from his ex-family. 

"Your turn Karai" 

"Yes father" she replied,

Mikey watched from the side lines as Karai began fighting with the bot, he had to admit she was good and he was impressed as he watched her another memory came into his head. 

It was Leo telling Mikey he had to be bait, he was fighting the Stockman pod, he was grabbed by his head and thrown into a building, he remembered the pain & how much he hurt himself lying in the rubble and no-one came to find him. 

Mikey felt glad he was away from them now, gladder than he had, when he was taken back to Karai's room, he wanted to get to know her better. 

"So Shredder's your father?" he asked her,  

"Yep, he's the only family I got now thanks to your Rat Sensei" she replied, 

"What did he do?" Mikey asked, not able to recall, if he even knew in the first place, 

"he tried to steal her away but when she wouldn't leave with him he took her life, he decided if he couldn't have her, no-one can" Karai said, she showed him a torn photo, of her mother.

"It's all I've got left of her" Karai told him, Mikey looked at the photo, it felt familiar to him, like he'd seen it before somewhere but he couldn't pull the memory out of his brain,
