My head whipped around to the figure. He was an old man and behind him was several warriors dressed in armour and armed. Like the night wasn't already hard.
"For the lay person, we aren't together. (your pronoun) and the doll are their own assembly here, Odin" Loki said looking in the same direction.
"You used to call me father. Have you forgotten the place you had in my family, my home? In the halls of this palace?"
A larger man walked from the hallway and looked at the scene. Soon Frigg was behind him and the relationship was uncanny.
"Brother? Loki?" he said pulling away from Frigg. She let go of his arm and he walked to the archway where Odin stood. Odin blocked him with his arm. Thor looked at him in the darkness. The clear tiny moment of hostility traced the air. Frigg came along between Thor and Odin, her skirts drifting on the smooth, stone floor. Thor looked so confused and angry, but also excited to see his brother, however Odin wasn't letting him by to check on Loki.
Loki brought himself up and looked towards them. I stood next to him guilty of being here without permission. Frigg had warned about that once upon a time. I hadn't normally cared because normally it was just her and I. Now that he was here, everything became more complicated. I was treat a criminal on multiple planets, on Asgardian lands, without permission from Odin. In simple terms, I was screwed.
"Odin, please my student has nothing to do with this. Loki, is just here to receive medical attention and then he will be gone." Frigg stated gently.
"Is (your pronoun) treating him as a patient?" he asked. His tone cold and controlled.
"Yes, on my-" she started but he raised a hand commanding her silence.
"I care not who ordered the treatment. This is against our laws. A midgardian is here in Asgard without my permission. You know the rules of magic and teaching. You should have told me about you new student and that Loki was here."
Odin looked over at Frigg and the tension in the air was so thick you could almost reach out and touch it.
Odin turned back to us and my blood nearly froze. I could sense the disapproval the and frustration. "Loki, why did you return? Did you come to bring back the Tesseract?"
"Healing and no, I would not want to give you back another stolen relect from a time and people long forgotten." He spat out. The Tesseract was somewhere but it was not here. Loki was smart enough to leave it hidden some place special and know him, far way from Odin's and Thanos's grasp. No one was going to find it without him and that was his insurance to stay alive. "I took my birthright and legacy."
"Your birth right was to die. To be left to die on that frozen rock of a planet. A would be king, left out and left behind by his people. You have no rights to anything."
Odin gripped his staff as two ravens joined him by the window sills that opened the garden to the palace. He looked disapproving to Frigg with an attitude built on rage. Thor stood back as if he was figuring out a puzzle with several pieces missing. This wasn't the answer he wanted."Only snakes and spies come to Asgard in the dead of night." Odin spoke loudly. "Which are you?"
"I am no spy nor snake. I am just a humble student trying to learn the art of healing All mighty King." I called to him. I hoped that was enough of an answer but I doubt it when I looked at Loki.
"What in Hel was that?" Loki asked accusely. Obviously he wasn't thrilled by the answer.
"Maybe if you apologize for Midgard and explain why you took the stone, he might not kill you. I am not from here and I think being alive is better than being prideful and dead."
"Stupid Midgardian" Loki bit out looking back to Odin and the assembly that had begun to grow in the tiny court area. He looked at me and groaned. I grabbed the IV bag and prayed to Heavens that we could escape.
"Since neither of you are of any use, the sentence is death." Odin bit out. He nodded dismissively to his guard. They had their orders and we had to move. He grabbed me and pulled me behind the tree.
"Can you run?" Loki whispered to me. His eyes fixed on Frigg and Odin who were talking with each other.
"I can but you don't look like you can make it a few feet. Even in a diguise of perfect health you would be wasting your seidr." I said looking at him. "Go to your normal form and save your energy."
Little Friend ran up to us carrying my bag. Throwing the books in, I took Loki's hand and pulled him towards the hedges. "Careful, the arrows are still being shot. I am just going to slow you down."
"What can I do? What protective shield would help?" I said looking down at the books in my messenger bag.
"You could make him a bite bigger and use him as a shield." He said nodding at little friend. I thought it a bit barbaric but if it worked it might be worth it. "Trust me, your shabiti will be fine. He will return to you. It the same spell regarding growing bones back. I am sure you covered that."
"Or I could use you since you are the criminal here" I bit as arrows continued to rain. I didn't want Little friend to get into more trouble or get hurt. Loki on the otherhand I was kinda okay with sacraficing.
"Amusing idea, however, I would like to continue to live. I am sure you are familiar with the sanctity of life. And medical professionals do no harm correct?" he chided. He was getting really good at getting under my skin. His blue skin gleaming in the light of the palace.
"I am so sorry Little Friend" I said looking into his hollow skull. He nodded and pat my hand. He jumped out of my hand and I began to chant. He grew and grew until his body was double the size and width of the tree.
We quickly ran into the hedges but Loki was hardly more than dead weight. I grabbed one of the books I was reading. "Go without me. I am the reason you are in this positions and I deserve-"
"Shutup and hold this." I said shoving the IV bag into his hand. "Good-bye Loki." Isaid before summoning a portal. I shoved him into it befor I pushed myself backinto my body. The bag of books collasping on the floor. I woke up, exhaustedand cold. The world felt just a bit more lonely with out magic and Frigg. Iwould never be able to return now. Loki and I were connected, Odin would killme. It was going to be hell being alone after all this time. I am sure Friggand I would find some other way to teach me, but it didn't make me feel anybetter being cut off from her. I paced rapidly and hope to all the fates that Iwould see them again. I already miss my seidr teacher. I grew worries as thedays grew longer and her presence wasn't felt. I couldn't even feel Loki. Hehad been in every dream since New York but now he to, was gone. Even in Astroprojection, I could not find him
