Summary:

The year is 1881 and if you're alone in this world you might as well be dead, because starving dogs have no mercy.

Or: Wherein Louis and Harry are on the opposite ends of the social ladder, but their paths still cross on the filthy streets Louis calls his home. The odds are staked against them from the beginning, and even more when Louis' past finally catches up with him.

What I think:

Oh this one has been long overdue. This is one of the absolute best Larry thrillers you will read, without a doubt. It is completed.

It is set up in older times, it has a completely vintage vibe that I love so much. Harry's character is so soft yet strong and passionate. Louis' character is so, so nuanced, so sensitive and the Zouis friendship in this one is to die for.

It is the angstiest of angsty stories. The suspense can get so frustrating, because trust me, you will be scared at times BUT the completion is so satisfactory and there aren't any loose ends left. It's ridiculously good.

This is one of the first books that I read on ao3 and I was actually sad for a while because this is not made into a film, that's plain unfair. I have shed a couple of tears reading this, honestly, this is so much better than some of the books that get made into movies. But oh well.

If you like thrillers and just angst in general, you will absolutely love this one, give it a read.
