Marco POV
"Mom! I've decided that I'm going to go to tutoring more."
My mom looked at me, confused as to why I needed more tutoring lessons. My older sister then came in giggling to herself. "Hehe his pride was beaten down when he ended up having a lower score than the new girl in his class."I gave a hard stone glare right at my sister but she ignored it obviously having fun embarrassing me. My mom chuckled to herself when she heard the (NOT TRUE) reason.
That hard-headed, plain, ugly, arrogant girl! I definitely won't be beaten by her again!
~~~After Long hours of Studying~~~
"Ugh I feel so dizzy... No! I need to go to tutoring to beat that devil! Just... Go... To... Tutori-"I fell down on the streets to tutoring... I don't really know what had happened when I was unconscious. I could hear a fan whizzing around, feeling myself on top of a hard yet soft bed. I finally opened my eyes to see where I was. "Are you awake?" That voice.... It can't be can it?
I sat up on the bed and saw the one face I didn't want to see in this situation. "Ehhhh!! Where am I?!! Why are you here?!!"
That Wren girl was writing on her desk, beside the bed. She looked at me saying "This is my house. I saw you sleeping on the road so I brought you here. It's already 6." She went back to doing her work while I kept freaking out. Why was it her of all people to help me?! "I need to get home righ-"
She stood up, opening her door while she looked at me to follow. I looked at her confused (and a bit pissed off that she cut me off) as I reluctantly followed her. "Since it's dinner time I'll be making it since there's no one else here. I can only make simple foods like fried rice. Also if you're going to call your parents the landline is near the cabinet right there." She pointed to a cabinet and left to go to the kitchen. I scoffed as I looked at her retreating form and took out my cellphone. "Who does she think I am? I don't need to use a dirty landline."
After calling my parents I sat on the table near the kitchen. Wren was cooking the rice and I got interested. "So you know how to cook? Hm... Where's your parents? Aren't they supposed to be here right now?" I asked, curious and wanting to break the awkward silence. I looked around the place and saw that it was pretty small.
She was still facing the pan when she answered back. "My mom works very late hours so I'm usually alone here at home. I live in a single-parent family. My dad... He died in a car accident when I was younger." She kept cooking but you could see that she didn't like remembering about her dad.
I instantly felt bad for asking her about it. I wanted to change the subject and so I asked how she studied. "So do you ever go to tutoring?" She brought the rice to the table. It actually looked pretty good to eat. "I'd rather not waste money on tutoring when I could just study at home." Surprised by her answer I asked, "So you like studying?" She shook her head saying no.
"So then why do you work hard if you don't like it?" She looked right at me this time. I flinched in her gaze. "My mom... Like I said, she works the late hours and comes back exhausted. Although she does that, she still tries her very best to raise me. I work hard so that I could let her live a better life. I could hurry up and become independent so that she doesn't have to do all these things for me."
Her answer... I hated how logical and true it was. I hated how she was always right about some stuff. I hated how she could easily sway me. For the first time in my life, I felt absolutely defeated.
A few minutes later my parents came to pick me up. They apologized for me and we left. The maids greeted us back. I remembered that Wren didn't go to tutoring and told my parents to stop paying for me. That I would stop going to tutoring. They were both confused but didn't ask any questions.
I was determined. Determined to beat her with my own strength.
