We were able to get to the hospital as fast as we could. Wren was so happy that we were there that she almost broke the car door when she opened it. As soon as we were inside, Wren was seen by her aunt. They exchanged a quick hug as I awkwardly stood behind them, fidgeting about.

"Your mom is in room 514 but-" Wren didn't wait for her to finish her sentence and ran to the elevator doors. I, unfortunately had to run after her... Again.

She didn't like to wait for the elevator so she immediately took the stairs. We both ran up to the 5th floor and burst through the door. If it wasn't for me I bet that the door would've broke by the force Wren put into it. Wren looked around until she found the room number she was looking for and opened the door. She didn't burst through it like the other one but it still made a rather loud bang.

"Mom!!" I was able to catch up to her and see that... Her mom was fine. Her right leg was in a cast but other than that totally fine. Her mom looked up at us surprised but immediately recovered with a smile. She was watching TV and eating something... Pudding maybe?

"Ah! Wren! Sweetie hi. I guess you heard from Aunt Beth huh? Its nothing much really just a fracture when I fell from my bike." She told us with a bright smile and I sighed in relief. All that running for nothing I guess. Wren was still looking at her mom, mouth agape and surprise written all over her face. If I could I would've taken a picture for you because her face was priceless.

All of a sudden her hand was back to being clenched and she looked down to the ground. Her hair covered her eyes and I didn't know what face she made until I could hear sniffling. Tears fell to the ground as she looked at her mom. The same click in my heart was there again and I almost immediately went and hugged her but her mom beat me right to it.

She motioned her for a hug and Wren dived into it. Like a little girl who lost her mom, she hugged her so tight it looked like her mom couldn't breathe for a bit. "M-Mom... You're o-okay." Her mom started to stroke her head as she continued to cry. Shocked by what just happened I didn't move. It was the first time I've ever seen Wren cry.

~~~ timeskip just cuz ~~~
"M-Mom I'll go get auntie now..." Wren had stopped crying and was able to talk without hiccupping every now and then. Her eyes were still a bit red but either way she was fine. She left me and her mom alone in the room just chilling... Actually it was pretty awkward to be with your enemy's mother. Was she my enemy? Oh yeah this is all part of my plan.
Looking around the room, I felt more awkward just sitting there. And her mom wasn't really helping. Her mother just looked at me smiling like she had no care in the world. It looked like she had little flowers popping around her... It was that weird. "Are you Wrens friend?" I thought about it... Were we friends? "I-I guess we're sorta friends.. Maybe?"
Her mom giggled at my response and I blushed a bit in embarrassment. "I'm glad. That girl of mine has always worked herself and beginning at such a young age, I would get worried for her. But now that she has you as a friend, I can rest assure. So thank you for being her friend." She smiled at me and I felt a warm feeling come over.
"N-No we're not-" Before I could finish, the door opened revealing Wren and her aunt. It seemed like her aunt was jokingly scolding her for rushing out like that in a hospital. They started talking and I was left ignored. "Wren, dear? Won't you escort your friend, Marco out? It seems to be late and I don't want his family to worry."
I checked the time on my phone and indeed it was late, 7:48pm to be exact. I said my goodbyes and Wren led me out the door. "So you'll stay in the hospital with your mother?" "Oh um yes." I adjusted my bag on my shoulder and sighed. "Okay... Its good nothing too bad happened to your mom." "Mhm yeah."
"Well I'll be going now. See you in school, Wren." I was about to leave before Wren stopped me. "Uh w-wait Marco." I stopped in my tracks, a bit confused. "Um I mean you've helped me a lot and if you weren't there at that time I could've done something stupid." That time? Oh when she found out her mother got into this mess.
If I wasn't there she could've done something so stupid like getting into an accident like her mother. And it could've been a lot worse than just a fracture. "So um..." Her words interrupted my thoughts and I saw something I never thought I would ever see.
Thank you
Wren smiled a smile so bright. Something I never thought she could ever do. Badump. Badump. She muttered a small 'see you later' and went back to her moms room. And I? I was frozen in place, right where she left me. As I remembered when I had held her trembling hands which relaxed just a tiny bit in my hold, I realized.
Raising my hand to my mouth, I could feel my face feel as hot as the sun. It was burning and I could only hear the beat of heart resound in my ears as I stood in the empty hallway.
I had realized at that time... Wren really was a girl.
