CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR : KILLING SPREE!

|

moments later

the ground rumbled underneath you. eri clung to you as her stacks of unopened toys tumbled down from their towers.

you felt the building roll in waves-as if it were turning to mush and being remodeled. not too long after the tremors started, chronos barged in and ordered you to follow suit.

your legs felt like jelly as you hauled eri behind chronos' lead. your vision was distorted and the monochrome surrounding slowly morphed into something more vibrant, something more distorted.

blinking harshly (to no avail), you gave eri's back a reassuring pat as you came up to overhaul. the eyes that were calmer previously were now narrowed with irritation .

"the heroes are making an attempt to foil my plan." he said, walking and expecting you all to follow. eri tucked into you further, flinching with each loud noise.

a whimper bubbled from even your lips as your surroundings rocked, almost throwing you to your knees.

"keep up." overhaul simply stated, immune to the discord and clearly annoyed. like he wasn't the bitch that brought you here.

with one final twist of the walls, a structure behind you sealed off any escape and any entry. any hopes of being found and rescued were zero.

did the league know where you were?

you knew toga and twice were here, but running into them when they have an agenda to complete wasn't likely.

your musings went downhill as you slowly came to the realization that no one was coming for you. if there was ever a worse time to be a useless healer, it was now.

two minutes walking

overhaul was still in front of you. eri was still in your arms. you were still running your fingers through her hair soothingly.

you were still seeing things weird. you knees were shaking. the serum, was your only rational thought.

why me? you wanted to ask overhaul what the fuck he put in you. he had so many other lackeys around, why'd you have to be the test subject?

"you okay?" eri whispered to you and you nodded, squeezing your eyes shut then open again, fueled by some false hope that by just wishing away this unwanted entity, it would disappear.

"just a little headache," you lied, smiling softly at her.

ten minutes walking

where were you even going? who's fighting up there? how will i get out?

this was ridiculous.

your legs were practically nonexistent at this point. a numb cycle; one foot in front of the other, again, and again, and again. eri was walking beside you now, holding tightly onto your thumb as if it were her lifeline.

you were lagging behind the gang leader. badly. and you could tell he was getting annoyed.

"get up." he barked at you. you doubled over as a pain rooted in your stomach, like a bad ache when you're sick. it felt as if you were being stabbed from the inside out. breathing out heavily, painfully, barely, your eyes flew open as your body tried to combat the intruders.

eri tugged on your hand urgently, her wide eyes knowing what would happen if you continued to upset overhaul. her bottom lip wobbled while she only tightened her vice grip on your thumb.

you heard a tired sigh from overhaul. "chronos, grab the child."

"no, no." eri whimpered. "please, don't go to sleep. you can't stay with him." you could only focus your weak eyes onto her as she was tugged away. "y/n," she whispered, tears pooling in the corners of her eyes. but she stayed quiet and didn't make a fuss, like she was trained to do.

overhaul kneeled beside your position, observing you with a hum. "seems like you're having a hard time. must be that serum, finally."

oh how you wanted to kill that fucker. if only i had a more powerful quirk, you thought bitterly. then i'd be able to blast him out the water.

"what... is this?" you gasped shortly, managing the strength to look him in the eye.

"uh..." overhaul glanced back at eri before reluctantly answering you. "a enhancement, authorized by your boss himself. shame he didn't care about you enough to test it before letting me inject you with it."

tomura did this? you seethed, sick bastard. he let something get to his head and suddenly all the hateful energy in the world was directed to you. if you survived this, you'd kill him yourself.

"you're slowing us down, unfortunately." overhaul said. "and it's not like i'm in immediate need of your abilities. but for good measure, if you see anyone having a hard time, heal them."

you furrowed your eyebrows but it only made your vision more hazy. you couldn't think straight, and you were feeling your overdrive sensations raring to go for some reason. everyone around you was perfectly fine and there were no threats nearby.

but you couldn't rationalize the reason behind anything at the time. instead of having a ferocious need to heal, you had an intense, malicious desire to kill.

your body reverberated as you groaned out, back curving as you hunched over the ground. your chest rose and fell violently. overhaul backed away from your spasm, curious. "is this supposed to happen?" he asked, directed to his right hand man.

chronos tilted his head. "not exactly... no."

"will it interfere with our plans?" overhaul said calmly, as if you weren't suffering through excruciating pain right in front of him.

you seethed and clenched your eyes shut, the serum burning fire as it coursed through your veins and making your skin sizzle in pain. gasping for air, your eyes couldn't focus; you could see nothing but the blur of whatever was around you. your common sense was slowly fading as something else was bubbling up in your chest, something that you couldn't control.

"no." chronos answered.

"then let's keep walking."
